Truth - good and bad - about Villa Angelina

So you'll probably read alot of reviews regarding Villa Angelina. Remember, it all really depends on which part of VA you live on. I live near Villa Angelina street. In my building, it's not too bad, but not too great either. When i first looked at the apartments, the office showed me one that was clean, newly painted, but was about to be moved into by someone else. She told me the apartment i would actually move into wouldnt be ready til the end of the month. When i finally did move in, the cabinets and walls look like they've been painted on more than a dozen times. The floor tiles look very old and worn out. The counter seems new, but has some stains and marks that could not be removed. Our carpet was old - and you could tell the stains left over from the previous tenant. I've never had roaches or molds (thank God), so i cannot complain.
One huge thing i noticed about our apartment was the noisy foot steps late at night. If it was summer, or the holidays, there tends to be party goers leaving for home - at 1am, 2am, 3am, up to 6am. They would walk out nosily, drunk, and without consideration for the rest of us who are asleep. Sometimes, if the tv is off, and there arent any dogs barking, you can hear the neighbor next door consummating. Now if it was the neighbor upstairs, your windows would be vibrating.
Another bad thing about neighbors in this complex is that if your neighbor upstairs is awake opposite hours of the day, you can hear their footsteps in the middle of the night, or you can hear them opening their dresser drawers. Not too noisy, but still noticeable.
Of course, VA is a pet-friendly complex. For those who are easily bothered by barking dogs - this is not the place for you. But for those who are searching for a place for you and your pet to relax - then this might be home. We own a medium sized dog, and though he RARELY barks, we have also purchased a barking collar for him at times when a neighbor plans to walk in the open park-like area. There is another neighbor in the same vicinity whose dog incessantly barks, nonstop. The barking always wakes up my sleeping baby, which is a negative.
Many have complained about the office management. I've read previous posts and i can agree that sometimes, the office doesnt do much. For example, i notified them about a dead light bulb in the open park areas. All they did was turn it off and never replaced it. Another example, i notified them about a barking dog nearby. One manager walked by, told me "yes it is barking but i cant do anything about it since the neighbor isnt home". Later on in the week, the same dog goes back to barking continuously. I dont believe the manager ever notified the tenant. A while ago, the sink in my kitchen was leaking water underneath. It was after hours and i called maintenance. It had taken then 25minutes to finally get to my apartment, after which it had wasted 6 large pots full of water. The only good i could mention about them is that they receive packages when we arent home. But if the fedex guy doesnt leave you a note on your door, you'll never know the office has it because the managers dont bother notifying you. They TRULY are friendly, but i have seen them painting their nails, or chit-chatting on the phone, which makes me think again about whether or not the raise on our rent truly is fair for what we're getting.
Even so, the price is considerable. Especially for the space, the location (schools, malls, police station, library, fwys, etc), laundry rooms & storage on every floor, & elevators (great for strollers/moving dollies). Try going elsewhere and you wont find all these great features for the same price.
Parking is another issue. If you rent a 1bdrm, you get 1 carport space. But if you own 2 cars, one has to park either in the visitor parking, or on the street. A negative thing about parking on the street is that there's a limit. If you park beyond a certain area, on street-cleaning days, or in the high school parking area, you'll get a ticket. If you park in the visitor parking, you cannot park there for more than 24hrs. As for parking in the future-resident parking, it is off-limits from 9-6pm.
Overall, this is a good place to live. Of course, all complexes will have its good, its bad, its horrible, and its terrific comments about it. But this is my opinion about where i live. I like it, but i am still saving up for a real place of my own. Thanks for reading.

Very accurate and detailed review. Thanks. I also live here and have been happy overall. I just got my 1 year lease renewal and my rent is not going up. That makes me feel even better about staying.

Bottom line...this dump is investment property owned by some foreign consortium, probably East Indian. That is why the staff are all undocumented mezkins with thick Sinaloan accents.

the aspects that you are complaining about in regards to the neighbors, its something you pretty much have to deal with when living in an apartment complex. i'm sure everyone who lives on the bottom of an apartment complex has a problem with the neighbors being noisy either on top or beside them. so no matter where you go you'll have these problems. its an apartment not a house.
