I noticed that there are a lot of mixed reviews about this place. That really doesn't surprise me. Everyone has their own expectations and let downs about the place they are living. I however, have been here about a year and a 1/2 and love it. But we are a young couple with two dogs and no children. If I didn't want to hear dogs barking and I had a family I may not love it as much as I do.
When I moved in the apartment was in great shape. But I was told that the person here before me was hear for like 10 years, so they really had no choice but to put down new carpet and everything. The layout is fine. The kitchen and living room are nice and open, which I like. The balcony isn't much, but for my dogs it's a place to go potty. It was just big enough for a small table and two chairs. I don't necessarily like looking over the balcony into the neighbors backyard but oh well. Just don't expect too much privacy out there.
When I renewed my lease my rent did not get raised which was great! As for the cockroach issues, I heard lots of talk about it and engaged in discussions with other neighbors about it, but never have seen one in my apartment. However, I clean like a mad person, so just be wary of who your neighbors are and realize they may not be as clean and tidy as you are.
I have had NO problems in this last year and a half. I had one light fixture issue and they came that same day and fixed it. I have heard of some complaints about the dog barking around here. Bottom line, there's nothing that can be done about it, you can't really pinpoint where it's coming from and that person can't really prove if it is or isn't there dog. So if you don't want to hear it DON'T MOVE IN.
Honestly, if you're young and don't have HUGE expectations, this is a great place.

If you are young...your parents are probably picking-up the exorbinant rent this place charges for a dumpy rat-hole with poor customer service so you don't care.

Well, when you come from a trailer park, this place must look like Trump Towers-looks like you're moving up in the world! If I were you I'd be watchful of paint chips (Kibbles and Lead Chips, Kibbles and Chips, I gotta get me some Kibbles and Chips!) your dogs will ingest while you're there-that place isn't fit for DOGS let alone kids! Good luck, you're going to need it, especially since you're not bright enough to know it doesn't matter how "clean" you are to keep from having a roach problem when the place isn't managed right.
