When we were shown the model it was pretty nice...but don't be deceived. After pressure to sign the lease right away, we instead asked to wait until we could view the actual apartment, which was nothing like the model. We even went as far as to make a list of the broken and stained features. The management assured us that these would all be fixed by our move in. Unfortunately, the day we moved in, the apartment was in much worse shape that we originally thought, the toilet was leaking all through the hallway! It took us over a month, for most of which we could not even unpack, for them to fix anything. In the end, we ended up fixing most of it on our own just so we wouldn't have to deal with the inept management staff. It was the worst renting experience I have ever had. Not to mention I have yet to receive a check for the balance of my deposit (6 months after move out).

I had a similar experience. I wasn't able to view the apartment before my move in day because they were doing "maintenance and cleaning." When I moved in, I turned in an extensive list of things that needed to be fixed/replaced. A year later when my lease ran out and I moved, they'd only fixed one thing on the list, the dryer (which was only "fixed" to the point that it was somewhat usable, but actually badly needed replacing). I have not received my deposit either. What have they said about the status of your deposit when you've talked to them?

Similar experience as well - significant maintenance problems, major disputes on move-out over pre-existing problems and it took forever to get our check. We gave notice several months in advance, asked for a walk-through prior to move-out repeatedly both verbally and in writing but never got one. On the last day of the lease I walked in to the office and handed them the keys -- they finally did a walkthrough at that point when it was too late to fix any "problems" (whether pre-existing or not) before the end of our lease (in violation of state housing law). We considered taking them to small claims court, but decided that the hassle and time required wasn't worth the money involved with the disputed deposit amount.
The Springhouse management staff was a nightmare - I would never live there again and strongly warn friends away.
