Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007

When we first moved into Toscana (now AMLI) we loved it. It was a really nice area and beautiful apartments. My favourite aspect being that they would pick your trash up at your front door.
Two years later....we are moving on to a better place.

Problems started occuring with our doorknob. It would get stuck and at one point my husband was locked out and I was locked in. We called for a new doorknob, and they just "fixed" the one already installed. We had to just replace the doorknob ourselves. Then, it was the air conditioning, in two years, it has broken three times, the first time we were told that it was a frion leak, but nobody fixed it. So we just gave up.
We have a parking stall, which happens to be right next to visitor parking, so people are always parking in our stall. The apartments put restrictions on towing, so now we just have to put up a "note" until the owner moves it, meaning we are out a parking stall until the violator moves their vehicle.
They lost our lease, so they didn't have an accurate timeline on our move out date. When that was finally squared away, we signed a 30 day notice for departure. Two weeks later we get a call from the office wondering when we were going to turn our keys in. My husband explained to the lady that we signed a notice, and asked her if they had lost it. She lied and said she had it in front of her, but asked for our move out date, as her copy was "unclear" (it was quite clear on our notice). He went into the office and had to make a copy of our copy for them.
As we are attempting to set up our electricity for our future move in date of our new apartments, we were notified by the electric company that we could not set it up, because the electricity of our current apt was scheduled to be turned off, on Friday. Turns out, AMLI had rented out our apartment. We started to receive the mail of the new resident that was set to move in.
Not to mention they are now repainting the entire complex, the hallways stink of paint fumes; our front door, peep hole and doorknob have all been painted over and the ground is covered in paint dust. Our patio has been covered in paper for two weeks, but they have not finished painting.
The trash service I had loved at first, I now hate. People leave their trash bags outside on the ground, and not in front of their door, and I've seen old couches being left at the bottom of the stairs. Sometimes the trash is not even in bags. I drive a truck and a few times, beer cans and bottles have been thrown into the back of it. This is not really management's fault, but moreso the "quality" of people that are allowed to live in the complex.
More than once I have been waken up at 2:00 AM from people arguing outside in the parking lot, cars with loud music speeding through the neighbourhood or people messing around being loud and disrespectful.
My husband and I are not ones to complain, but the last few months have been a mess. I am so grateful to be moving out.
