It's like living in hell

We've been here six years, ever since the bldgs went up/opened. We wanted a home with more amenities and services as my health was declining, and Jefferson (as it was called then) was 'sold' to us as a concierge-type property, with tons of perks and services.
Some of those perks and services actually existed while Jefferson still owned and managed the property, but once it was sold (about a year later), everything changed and went completely downhill. One by one, services were stopped. No more dinners in the movie theatre, no more cooking classes, no more trash pick-up. So now, my husband has to put our stinky trash into his passenger vehicle and drive it back to the ONE place for trash. We are the furthest from it you can possibly be. Our trash bill was cut all of what, $6 or so. What a joke.
For nearly two years, we've had upstairs neighbors who have been running a business out of the apt. Different people would work the facility; there'd be someone new every month or two, and they would have their girlfriends and boyfriends, and girlfriends' children, and any number of friends up there, at all hours. No one actually called it, 'home'; one of the kids who stayed up there told me that, to my face. These people were so noisy! it was unreal. Thundering across the ceiling and thumping things into the walls, and this noise would last until two am or later. I'd be awakened every single night, and when I became ill and had to have surgery, this is the environment I had to recover in... it's been madness. Complaint after complaint was made; to no avail. Management simply doesn't care. I finally complained to city authorities, and of course, as a result, we are now being asked to leave.
DO NOT MOVE HERE, unless you like to party and throw up outside others' windows, or if you like to conceive babies in the hallways, or leave bags of rotting food in front of someone else's front door, or if you like dirty breezeways that are never cleaned, or if you like your mailbox broken into three times, or if you like your lease or rent payments lost. Never EVER leave that office without a receipt, or a copy of whatever business you transacted.
There is no decent quality of living, here. The walls are cardboard-thin and crooked, to-boot. We hear every noise from the street, every pounding step on the stairs, every child who screams in the breezeway. The appliances are the cheapest possible and totally undersized; I have NO idea how a family lives in these places and is able to fit food into these ridiculous little refrigerators. The sinks are so shallow, water constantly flows over, everywhere, and the so-called 'garden' tub is about, well, about as big as it needs to be for plants, but certainly not for a person. The windows are single paned and so poorly weather-stripped, that you can feel the airflow and hear the noise, just as if the windows were open. In all the time we've been here, the heating/cooling filter has never been changed out, not once, yet the apt we were in before here did this religiously, every four months. They refuse to pay for handicap upgrades and forget about asking for a Hepa filter for your asthma.
Living in a hotel would be better. This management only cares about their month-end reports... not about the people who live here and unfortunately call it, 'home'.

Do you live in building 11? I think I know who you are and if you are the person I'm thinking of you are a weird crazy old lady who really needs to mind her own buisness. The fridges are standard size, mine is even a double door fridge with a water and ice despenser same with the sink, standard. Try living in New York and you'll know what noise is! The owners even got a saftey patrol to check for noise. Why would they do that if they didn't care at all. Seriously you should live in an old folks home if you are that sensitive, it's an apartment get real!

Hi there,
Just curious if you guys have any input on building 4? I am thinking about leasing there and just wanted any honest feedback. Thanks!

Yeah I agree with the first post a bit - You have to deal with other people if you live in an apartment and there are some things that management can't do....They're not going to kick somebody out for walking around cause you can hear footsteps, or even running for that matter. If you're so concerned about it you should buy a house and mind your own business there.

Are you serious?? Instead of bitching about it go somewhere else instead of wasting your time if you hate it so much.

You must be that beautiful girl with the bad attitude who slams your garage door and stomps up the stairs with your loud cackling friends. So pretty on the outside, but so ugly inside. If we could buy a house, don't you think we'd've done it by now? We've lived in apts for over 20 years; we know well what normal apt noise is like, and we've experienced far from normal noise, here. Your lack of consideration of others is what helps make this such an unpleasant home evironment. I am currently in the process of dying, so I won't be an irritation to you that much longer.
