Unfortunately this is not the case with Carmel. Over the course of our 9 month tenancy we had numerous problems, mostly with the staff. Poor management seems to be the "norm" these days as far as apartments go; but I have to say that out of all the apartments I have lived in, Carmel takes the cake! Their lack of concern, communication, and failure to keep commitments is infuriating. Most issues we had were continually ignored resulting in several phone calls to Corporate(Lewis Operating Corporation); things were not handled much better at that stage. As resolution to our growing list of problems, and only after threatening to get the BBB involved, we received a letter stating that we could break our lease early with no penalty. We had hoped this to be the end of our headaches; but of course when we received the move out statement(SODA), we were charged with ridiculous fees. Fortunately for us, we documented the condition of the apartment with photos which have now been sent to Corporate. We currently have a pending complaint with the BBB regarding this situation. As of yet, no response from Lewis, which is probably how they handle most complaints given their F rating. I don't expect anything but the very least from this company and hope this information spares someone the same hell we have just endured.
