Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
Having lived at another Lewis property in 1999 my wife and I knew this area of Rancho so we looked around for a 3 bedroom place for us and our two small daughters.
We looked at the well staged models and decided we would rent a 3 bedroom place called the Drake with a den. This is their largest space.
We had to start paying rent two weeks before we could move in because they would hold the apartment rent free for only two weeks. It was coming available one month prior to our move in so we were kind of stuck. Ok, fine. We'd suck it up. They treated us well at the front desk and we got reasonable service over the internet and phone working out the details.
Well, we happened to fly down to California 2 weeks before move in to look at the apartment and then drop off our first check, sign the lease agreement, etc.
The first person we talked to said we couldn't see our apartment. Now remember, they were suposedly holding this apartment empty for us for two weeks and then we were to start paying rent. That sounded suspicious to me. Were they indeed charging me rent fraudulently for an apartment rented to someone else''' When we politely but firmly protested (visualize our jaws dropped open) the young woman said "you can ask my manager." Well the "manager" in the back office refused to come out of the office to talk to us. The answer was absolutely not, they were cleaning the carpets. When we said that we had flown down to CA from out of state just to do this, it didn't make any difference. When we said we didn't care and that we'd take off our shoes, she clearly didn't care.
We then panicked... we had to start jobs in two weeks and we absolutely would not rent from a place that would treat us this poorly from the outset.
Now, I think it is unreasonable to expect that the apartment complex can control the quality of people that rent from them. If people are leaving doggy droppings around the place, then they are soiling their own nest and it's not the Jamboree's fault. In addition, the prevous comments that child molesters live there is clearly bogus. Just check the Megan's Law website and you will see the Jamboree is too close to a school for any sex offender to register. However, even this is not up to the Jamboree.
What is up to the Jamboree is the level of customer service. There is a difference between Wallmart or Target and Nordstrom. Lewis has elected to train their people to have a very thin, polite, veneer. When it's time for you to get serious about a place to live in Rancho, you can expect to see the warts/zits/etc of this place very soon. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. I cannot believe they treated me and my wife this poorly. Lewis operating company lost more then twenty thousand of my hard earned dollers for the lease I was prepared to sign. Fortunately the veneer peeled off before it was too late for us.
