Most of my experience at The Cortesia was great. There was ample parking, the grounds were clean, and maintenance was attentive. My apartment was spacious and soundproofing was adequate.
I do have 2 gripes, however.
The first is that the management occasionally forgets to check the slot where residents deposit their rent. I was erroneously charged a late fee one month because they claimed my check came in on the 4th, not the 1st of the month. It took a bit of wrangling on my part to get the charge removed and my file cleaned.
My second and biggest gripe is in regards to my deposit. When I moved out, part of my deposit was withheld due to damage to the apartment. Since I left the unit in good condition, I immediately called for details - only to be informed that I had burnt the carpet. I explained to the manager (Terry) that I had NOT burnt the carpet, and she promised to check things out for me and call me back regarding a refund. This was the last time I ever spoke to her. After that, she stopped taking my calls and would not return my phone calls or letters. BRE Properties also ignored my concerns.
I wouldn't trust this management company again, as they obviously manufactured a fake reason to withold my deposit when I moved out.

THe management company is bad. I called to bring in my rent after they had lost my check and the closed the office early! They close the office early way to much!
