We were supposed to move in Nov 27 but as we were moving from out of state didn't actually show up to move in until Dec 1. So, mngmt had 3 extra days to make our place ready, even though it had been sitting empty for weeks. Nevertheless, when we arrived with the moving truck there was a maids cart in front of our door and a vaccum inside. There were also dangling light fixtures, missing & burnt out bulbs, the walls were fire engine red & pea soup green - hadn't been repainted. There were 3 different shades of white in the kitchen (wrong paints used to patch) and flat scratchy paint hastily spot painted on the bathroom cabinets - which are supposed to be painted with glossy paint so the wrong paint sticks out like a sore thumb. It's very obvious. We called mngmt and the maintenance guy came up, sprayed some windex on the floor, wiped it & said in broken english, "all ready now" and left... We had hired labor waiting to unload the truck so we got to work unloading. That night we discovered we also had no heat and no hot water. Spent the night in a hotel. Next day I called & was told the maintenance super was supposed to have inspected each apt for these things before move-in. Apparently hadn't been done, got lots of apologies, etc. I went to put stuff away under the kitchen sink and discovered a large puddle of water. Ditto under the bathroom sink. Called mngmt. 3 maintenance people showed up - for a leaky sink. They kept stopping by, looking at the sink, playing with their plumbers putty & chatting a lot. Then they'd say they have to come back tomorrow and leave. They got big gobs of gooey plumbers putty all over my sink, the tile counters, my kitchen rug and the hall carpet - which I had to clean up. What a mess! After the 3rd day of this our patience had run out. My husband threatened to call a professional plumber & simply send them the bill. Mngmt assured us they'd send the maintenance super down immediately. Later that afternoon the little fellow who can't speak english & doesn't know how to fix the sink showed up yet again. No mngmt super. We called mngmt again. Finally the maintenance super showed up & fixed both sinks. It only took 3 days & 5 visits. As for the rest of the property, for the past 3 days there has been trashed backed up in the trash chute & is now overflowing in the trash room. We're just stacking our garbage bags along with everyone else's. Went down to BBQ some steaks last night on the BBQ by the pool - they're out of propane. What a surprise. It's supposed to be a gated & locked facility but one of the exterior gates only shuts, doesn't lock. Result' Young hoodlums roaming the corriders. Heard them yelling the other day right outside my door, wanting a bathroom. 2 of them finally went and urinated in the hallway. Quality. Almost forgot - problems with the stove too. Gas stove, housekeeping had cleaned it & plugged the ignitors. Mngmt said this is a common problem. So, should have been checked for! I turned on the stove & kitchen filled with gas waiting for it to light, which it wouldn't, because the ignitor was plugged. Husband had to fix it, maintenance was busy with an 'emergency'. I wouldn't wonder. It's a shame, the complex seems nice & usually quiet otherwise. Maintenance seems to be having some definite issue though.
