Getting scary...

This is going to sound horribly elitist, but I have to say it. There has been a real decline in the quality of the renters who have been moving into this complex over the past several months. Look, we're probably all in the same financial boat, so it's not a class thing. It's just that there has been a large onslaught of people who do not have the desire to take care of their community. Litter, bottles (often broken), beer cartons, pieces of chicken and other food are scattered around their units and spread out over the property. Dog poop is everywhere; I regularly step in it when I walk my dog. People scream at their kids and significant others outside in the open. I saw one woman yelling at her elementary school aged daughter, and then they both got into her car, and she tore off like a bat out of hell, the car squealing and smoking, and the mother speeding more and more as the car continued through the complex. And this kind of driving is not an isolated case; there are many people now who drive like maniacs in this complex (which is full of kids and pets). There is so much partying going on now, and it spills into the streets. My husband saw a young man peeing from a balcony! Music in cars is so loud that the bass is painful. Motorcycles rev at all hours of the day and night.
It does not feel like a community, and it certainly doesn't feel nearly as safe as it used to be. Management says they'll take care of these problems, and some really blatantly unstable people have been evicted, but not much else has been done.
When the new management took over two years ago, the rent was raised by $200, yet I feel like our quality of life has worsened here. It's a real shame.
