Esplanade at Riverwalk

First thoughts...

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
Tomorrow (Friday) will be 1 week of living at Esplanade.
My thoughts so far:
Parking - I thought parking would be a huge problem because there's only about 8 open "public" spots for friends/family/roommates to park at in my area of the complex. Not only are most of the spots still open every day, but the public parking spot that's RIGHT in front of our apartment is always open too.
Noise level - It's almost TOO quiet (at least where we are in the complex). There's construction going on right next to us but when you're inside the apartment you cant even hear it. Also, all our neighbors are very quiet. We're on the bottom floor and I finally (for the first time) heard foot steps above us. I thought people didn't live above us it was so quiet.
Appearance - My girlfriend and I fell in love with the whole look and feel of this place. When we first drove into Esplanade it looked like we were pulling up into a fancy 5 star hotel. Very impressive. All the family members I've had over all made comments about how nice the place looks.
Safety - One thing I noticed about Esplanade right off the bat was that there are no gates in the whole complex. I was worried about this at first (don't want bad people getting in yah know'). I'm actually happy there's no gates now. Don't have to deal with waiting for it to open every day or swapping the gate clicker with my girlfriend or having to buy a second one. I've yet to see any type of security patrolling the complex but then again, it doesn't seem like we even need it here.
Construction - My one real concern about moving in is that we're trying to get satelite tv but aren't able to because the way our apartment is positioned (the building we're in is blocking the path that the satelite needs to get a signal). Ok, no biggie...we'll just get cable tv. Or not...turns out management doesn't want Cable TV installed in the buildings. So right now we have no TV what so ever. Not very cool. We were told from management to talk to the Satelite company again and make certain that they couldn't do it, so we'll see whats up.
***UPDATE 10/2/06***
We recently found out that the whole complex is hooked up to 3 big satelites and that we don't need to have 1 small dish because we can just hook up to one of the big ones. Wish we would have known that before :O Getting Dish Network to come out soon for TV though!
Maintenance - Haven't had to call for any help yet so can't really say much about this yet. 2 things though: Our fridge was brand new (nice bonus) but wasn't making any icecubes in the icemaker. Turns out we had to move the fridge out of it's cubby and turn the water valve on. Easy fix. Also, the water would go from semi-warm to COLD in about 15 mins of use. We had to turn a valve on the water heater to release more hot water. Now it's nice and warm/hot when we want it to be.
Staff - The staff has been helpful and on the ball. When we were looking into a few other apartments we had a lot of problems with them getting back in touch with us (they would say "ok we'll check this and get back to you asap - days pass and we would call and remind them we're still waiting). Esplanade's staff was very fast and kept all their promises when it came to them getting back in touch with us.
Overall - Very happy and very excited to live at Esplanade. No real complaints yet so we'll see what the coming months reveal. No I do not work for the management or know anyone personally that works there. I do tech support for a hard drive company and I know that 99% of people writing reviews are the customers that aren't too happy (they have the modivation cause they are upset, right'). Hope this review helps people see from the other side :)
