Crappy management, crime riddled and overpriced

Management is non-responsive to complaints about rampant crime on the property. Vehicle thefts/burgs, dirty common areas, and vandalism to pool furniture are commonplace here at Esplanade. My car was vandalized 3 times in one year mere steps from the office and where security stages. Manager had the nerve to tell me it was my fault! One of the managers parks in the handicap parking as she's too lazy to park elsewhere and walk. Management verbally abusive and not willing to shut their mouths and listen to your problem before they interupt and blame you. Office staff is helpful and courteous, however, Management is the black hole here. Crime ridden property even with high profile Alpha One security services. No neighborhood watch coupled with no pre-screening of tenants moving in. They are just looking to fill the property which looks good to potential residents. Registered Sex Offenders (meganslaw.ca.gov) also live on the property. Although nothing can be done to bar them from moving in, I'd like to know that prices I'm paying to live here go toward keeping my family and I safe and provide some level of comfort. I witnessed residents putting a dog in the pool and notified management immediately. Nothing was done. I witnessed a fight in the pool area where a persons head was cut. He used the drinking fountain to wash the wound leaving large amounts of blood on the fountain and sidewalk. Notified management and nothing was done for 3 weeks to clean up the bio hazard. Notified Health Department and management cleaned upn only because they were forced to. Fairfield management was far better, property looked awesome and office staff then was on top of their game. I HATE this place and the management but am unfortunately not in a position to move as of yet. The second I am, I'm out! DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOU WANT ANY LEVEL OF COMFORT AND SAFETY.

I disagree with both of these people. I have lived here for over a year and feel it gets a little better all the time. It's a big place, like 500 and something apartments. That many people you're gonna get some schmucks any where you go. Don't like it, then move. The internet cafe is first rate as well as work out room. My dealings with the staff have been few, but they're all great, especially Tenisha. I think grounds are beautiful. There is not a better place this big in Riverside County. Expensive, yeah, I thought so too, but the resident amenities are the best. You get what you pay for. Maybe the higher rents keeps some riff raff out, you know ? Go buy a house in a real nice neighborhood if you want to try to get something better. There's like a thousand cars here, and if someone gets hit 3 times, makes you wonder why. Until I can recover from my divorce and buy a home, I will be happy to live here.

I agree. The new management sucks real bad!!! The Director of Leasing is not equipped to be in Management. She has zero professionalism, she has no memory, loses files and she is a racist! She can't speak professionally and I think she is one freaking retard!!! That skinny white lady is also a -----. This new Management must be fired!

I am in total agreement with the author of this posting. The person posting on 04/27/2007, must be out of their mind because Tenisha is the worst of them all. We have been harrassed by her also and can't get out of this place fast enough. I have pictures of the garbage that people leave by their front doors. One tenant was leaving dirty diapers on her front door mat. We do not pay these outrageous rental rates to live with a bunch of white-trash pigs. Management is NOT keeping out the riff raff. In fact, in the past year, I'd say the quality of tenants being allowed to rent here has dropped drastically. The parking absolutely sucks too. I watched a visitor circle the entire property 4 times just yesterday, to find a parking space. She ended up parking on the far side of the property and walking, in the heat, with her small child. Management is totally unresponsive to any complaints, which we've had to make multiple times, and even then things are not taken care of or they are totally ignored. I'm trying to find out the property owner's/investors name(s) so I can inform them of the travesties that this management continues to perpetrate on their property. You should be able to look forward to coming home and relaxing in a nice environment. However, when you've spent 40 minutes driving around trying to find a parking space, then running the gauntlet past garbage and broken furniture left outside of neighboring apartments, it's not worth it.

I totally agree with this author. I've had my car broken into as well. When I confronted management, I was made to feel like it was my fault. Also, the parking situation was abviously not a well thought out portion of building these apartments. It's sad to see how these newer apartments are being so poorly managed. I would definatly not recommend these apartments to anyone I consider a friend.

Well it seems as though many people agree that this place sucks. For me too! It's funny. When I was getting my tour, I was told there was a fireplace out by the jacuzzi. Cool I thought but when I moved in I found that it has never worked. It's just all a facade. Gym equipment is constantly broken and when I complain, they tell me that they're working on it. Just try to use either of the two business offices. In one room, the printer doesn't work. In the other room, the computer doesn't work. This place is run by people who lie to you to get you in and then leave you hanging once you find out there is no validity to what they sold you. On my lease, I had to confirm that my dog wasn't one of the restricted categories to have there only to find two of the biggest dogs (on the restricted list) were allowed to move in. They are massive and the owner lets them do their business anywhere without picking it up. The manager Alisha was unprofessional and claimed to have a dental degree but chose apartment leasing instead. Go figure. Finally she was gone and some guy took over. Rarely saw him so have nothing to say good or bad. Now I hear he quit. Vinci is the most unprofessional person in the office. Her demeaning "talk-down" approach is reprehensible. She has absolutely no people skills and runs this place as if it's her own private club allowing the people she likes to do as they please. Solicitors are like fleas here. Nobody stops them. Parking is terrible. It took over 5 months to repair the lounge chairs at the pool and just around Thanksgiving, they were fixed, just in time for winter. I agree. We're paying for the amenities and they all suck. This summer, I saw police detecives pulling marijuana from the "manicured grounds" at Esplanade. I'm talking at least 5 feet tall! In the pool area! Right under managements nose! Looks are deceiving. I'm leaving at the end of my lease!

Just recently moved out of these apartments. They probably are the nicest looking apartments in the area. That being said....I will have to agree with some of the things being complained about above. Parking is a nightmare there. I know parking is not great at most apartments but they talked about doing an audit of all assigned spots the entire time I lived there and nothing ever happened. My car was vandalized while being parked in a covered spot right in front of the apartment. The gym was okay, but some equipment was broken the entire year I was there. Lounge chairs by the pool....there were probably 10 usable out of all that were out there. I never saw the fireplace by the pool work. And I witnessed with my own eyes the marijauna plants that were talked about. The office staff was great when you are thinking about moving in....of course. But once you are in and you go in there for anything or just questions, they are short with you and not nearly as helpful as they could be. I realized how nice an office staff can be when I moved into my current residence. They make the Esplanade staff look terrible. I would have stayed there only to avoid moving, but when they tried to raise my rent $300 at the end of my lease, that was enough reason to get of there as fast as I could.

I've moved away from Esplanade over 6 months ago and just recently visited a friend there. The grounds looked very nice with all the new plants. However, that was upon my drive in...from a distance. All the usual things that I complained about were still unchanged. The gym equipment that I complained about over a year ago has delapidated further since then. Parts of the machine are actually broken off and laying on the floor now. WOW! How does management expect retention when they don't address these issues? I saw dogs that were on the "restricted list" and excriment on the side walks. Parking issues are still prevelant and I didn't see the proposed "parking passes" on any of the cars parked there. Management and owners (Sequoia Equities in No. Cal) figure that since the housing market is down, renters should be up. That may be true yet it's my opinion that management/owners should work on retaining happy renters. Not renters that hate the place but due to circumstances beyond their control, can't move, which is the case for my friend. I asked if she's complained about the stuff not working and she said, "I did but got tired of listening to all their excuses and never seeing any action." Maybe I'm just voistrous but I doubt that I'm alone in my disgust with the management of what was once an award winning property. Management is all talk, no action. If ever the statment, "never judge a book by its cover" was more accurate, it's regarding this property.
