The truth about this overpriced slum managed by morons!

We've lived here for two years. My fiancee lived here a few years back when it was "really" bad, and apparently it is way better now. HA! After reading everyone else's reviews, I'm actually *grateful* that we've had so few problems compared to everyone else. We've only had, oh, about 12 incidents that really brought into focus the absolute worthlessness of the management and the maintenance workers. Their rude behavior, their slow response to any problem (even the dreaded "mold" which they make you sign a form agreeing to prevent from growing in your apartment), and the inept repairmen they send in to "fix" a problem, are the most frustrating factors you have to endure if you live here. Like when the repair guy decides to show at 4:30pm and then says he can't fix anything because it's too late in the day to do it, you really know what Peppertree is about! The parking nightmare goes in cycles, but for months it was so bad that everyone was parking in handicapped spaces, at fire curbs, in small enclaves that were never designed to be parking spots in the first place, and everyone would park in your "reserved" space if you were gone for more than a few minutes. I couldn't tell if it was rude party guests who didn't want to hunt for a spot, or rude *residents* who didn't want to hunt for one, but when you would get home from work @ 3 or 4 in the morning, and then spend 15-20 minutes sharking for a spot because someone STOLE yours, it makes you so mad that you can't even sleep once you get to your crappy apartment!! The apartments themselves are in mediocre-to-poor condition. We had a leaky air vent over our closet and bathroom 'hall' that took three weeks to get repaired by four different groups of maintenance guys and outside repairmen (and never painted, so the mold stains are still there), and recently, the water leak in our bedroom-window wall that had to be cut out and repaired (a two-week ordeal to get fixed and painted, and the carpet STILL feels moist and unclean). We still had a leak in our window sill, and about 10 other things that went wrong BUT WE FIXED OURSELVES because we don't want these people in our place when we're not here (lighting, doors, thermostat, caulking, etc)! The bugs come in- spiders, termites, occasional ants, and we've had to do our own fumigation (ONCE someone came out because some strange new termite-like bug was appearing everywhere), and it makes you afraid to open a cabinet or walk in the dark on the floor. The walls are so thin, I can hear the person above us as s/he gets out of bed, goes to the bathroom, listens to music, does (cough, cough) "other activities", which turns into slow torture when you're trying to sleep or just NOT be reminded every 5 seconds that you can hear everything the 2nd floor person is doing. I never felt safe in this neighborhood, and every night I come home from work, my fiancee walks me in because we don't trust anyone around here! Shopping carts and garbage are left everywhere, outdoor lights get busted frequently, the washer and dryer nightmare last year went on for months- dryers were broken into for the quarters and weren't fixed for months, so we'd have to try and use these dryers with the panels and electrical wires hanging out. It was a crapshoot to see if the dryer would even dry your clothes. The dryers are fixed now (higher price for washers, dryers are free), but the crapshoot still exists. And the gate has been broken so many times that it's a joke. Plus, so many people either don't have a clicker (or they just don't live here) that when you pull in to open the gate (when it's not busted open, that is), that you wonder who you're letting in ahead or behind you. We've seen lots of trashed or vandalized cars, and I'm so thankful and amazed that our cars haven't been messed with yet! --- We are moving out after being told to renew our lease or pay a $150 monthly surcharge on our rental amount! There's no way I'd pay $950 for this dump! The amount to pay and the deposit amount are way disproportional to the quality of the apartment. The apartment main manager (her name is the same as Shannen Doherty's character on 90210...) was so rude to my fiancee when he called to ask about the change that we decided right then we'd had enough. I've heard her speak so rudely and condescendingly to her employees (and loudly) over the phone that it showed me that the people here just don't CARE.And I've spoken with other residents who have been harassed and (illegally) threatened to renew their lease or go through even worse financial strains. And the cost of one person's STUDIO was costing more than our 1br!! That's shady to me!! Cheap fixes, poor attitudes, slow to solve a problem. Move here *at your own peril*............
