Not all that I expected

My wife and I moved in during late January 2003. My brother and his new wife live three doors down. Both households are quite displeased.

The leasing office is really pretty inside. The greenery and floral designs are quite lovely in fact. It?s too bad that loveliness doesn?t go any further than that.

Since we moved in, our front door has been vandalized, we are infested with roaches, our neighbors are incredibly loud, our porch is dirty and dusty, our paint on our front door is now peeling off from the vandalizm and from the Managements attempt to clean it off. I won?t touch it because it?ll just be my luck that all the paint will peel off.

About three weeks ago, my wife and I were quiety sitting on the couch watching TV about 930pm and all of a sudden we hear a very low flying helicopter! The spotlight was being shined directly into our apartment. Being that there is a greenbelt behind our apartment, we had to figure someone was back there, so we immediately jumped up, shut all windows, doors, and blinds and turned on the back light on the patio. You can imagine our fright having the Riverside Sheriff shining his helicopter light into our home like that. It?s very unnerving. However, it?s completely understandable that a vandal or felon could be running free through the complex since the Pierce Street gates do not close any longer. I have called 4 times over the course of the past 4 weeks and nothing has transpired. The gates still stay wide open inviting all to come in. Isn?t that unnnerving. Since my wife and I signed a lease for an apartment in a gated community, wouldn?t this be a job for an attorney' Don?t think I haven?t thought about it. We?ve already been violated twice, so we aren?t exactly feeling safe as of late.

I have heard a rumor from a reliable source that there were two rapes on the premisis prior to my residence....of which weren?t disclosed to me. Suffice to say, my wife does?t get the mail any longer AND I have her call me when she?s pulling in so I can go out and make sure she makes it to the front door. This may sound dramatic, but this is the point my wife and I are at with this situation. Mark my words, tonight, June 4 at midnight the gates will probably be wide open again...inviting all to come in.

Hindsight, the only problem we had with our last apartment was that it was just too small....but we will more than likely be moving back to the western part of Corona, where we used to be. It?s safer AND the gates close over there.

As far as the quality of neighbors, it?s OK I guess. Our neighbors upstairs to the left are a nice couple. Directly next door is a horrid couple. They woke us up at 230 in the morning with a domestic dispute and shattering of their bedroom window - both panes. It was loud...and not only that, it took the management 1.5 weeks to finally do something about it. I actually reported it...and maybe it wasn?t my business, but good gosh....I don?t want to be living in some broken down hovel with a bunch of idiots that don?t care about their home. If things don?t change, we will more than likely be moving out when our 9 month lease expires in September. I know my brother is expecting to do so.
