From tolerable, to bad, to completely awful...

We moved into this complex after being saddled with daylight break ins at the old place. We THOUGHT this was a nice, safe, place to live. That was hardly the case. When we moved in, right away, our hot water heater was not working correctly. The maintenence had to come through and fix it before we could really inhabit the place. THEN, our kitchen drawers broke. These drawers were so flimsy, that the main part of the drawer on the bottom (the metal) snapped off! They were broken for the remainder of the time we were there. No one ever came up to fix them, even though we called multiple times to get them fixed.
When BRE took over the property, all of the fun really started. When they first took over, we were treated to inspections without notice, and within the first 3 months of their takeover, 2 straight weeks for 7-9 hours at a time with no water. From there, the management became snotty, rude and generally unavailable to answer any questions. My husband's vehicle was stickered for towing 3x, after sitting for not even 48 hours while he was on his days off from work. They claimed it was dirty, unregistered and non working. None of which was true.
Then, came the unnanounced water shut offs that the office had absolutely no knowledge of. We went to mix formula for our infant, and lo and behold, no water! We called the office, and they said "well, all of the water on property is on. Call maintenence." SO, we called maintenence, they went to the wrong apartment, so I called back a second time. Finally, someone showed up at my door and said "we were renovating an apartment, and we hit a line. We had to shut off the water and now we have the plumbers on route to dig it out." This started a 6 hour ordeal with no water, where we had to go out to dinner (not within our budget at the time) and go and buy bottled water so we could actually feed our child.
Our rent was insanely raised every single time we renewed. THe last time, we were told if we didn't sign a lease, we risked losing our apartment, although we had inhabited the same apartment for 4 years! We chose not to sign a lease, because the break fee had been raised to 2,000.00 and we knew we were leaving shortly. They raised our rent from 1,045 to 1,220 because we refused to sign the lease. Then, the service got worse. We had a hostage situation in the complex, where we could not get in or out of the back apartments, consequently, where we lived. This standoff went on all night. We had the SWAT team in, as well as Riverside PD. NOT FUN. We had our truck broken into, and we also had tires slashed. We had people park in our space because they were too lazy to walk 3 feet from theirs.
The office staff is nice when they want to be and helpful when they want to be. Unfortunately, this detracts from the few genuinely sweet and helpful people in that office, but attempting to get a package was horrid, trying to get a hold of anyone for any sort of concern was absolutely awful. For example, one of the days of the water shut offs, they shut the water off 45 minutes early. I called the office, and the person said "well, it was at ABOUT 10 am." I read her the note, and she stated "oh. I didn't read that." It was insane.
Please, do not live here. You will go grey from all of the stress, parking nightmares, and lack of water that you will suffer. Find a different complex.
