Good for students

Very close to campus, right across the street from the University Book Exchange. I frequented the liquor store across the street from copying work to eating my lunch in the cafe. It gets pretty noisy, you can hear your neighbors, especially with the old motel style layout where everything is shapes as a hollow square with a pool in the center and apartments facing each other. The A/C is a wallmount unit that rapidly cools the living room, JUST the living room. Ceiling fans barely help cool the other rooms in the summer heat. Rent was pretty darn cheap. They did a lot of work on the complex to make it look better. Parking is never a problem thanks to ample street parking, rear parking and carports. The management was good, we enjoyed Robert who was always knocking on our door to tell up to keep it down. If he was telling us to shut up, he was telling everyone else who was loud to keep it down as well, so this can only be a good thing.

Theres a lot of space, but it isnt allocated well. The living room is huge, and the kitchen is pretty good. Bedrooms aren't bad, but the bathrooms, yikes. The master bath only has a shower, and the toilet is so close to the wall that its hard to use when going number two. (you have to turn a bit sideways). Its an old place, and it shows the most in the kitchen and bathrooms. But maintenance is doing a good job of cleaning it up and revamping it.

Laundry machines downstairs near the pool make it convenient. There a makeshift weight lifting room that we used a bit, but I wouldn't recommend it when UCR Rec center is close by. Try to live away from the Apple Tree Learning Center. Man do those kids get loud around 8am. And for some reason they always had some strange animal, whether it be a goat that always made noises at night, or an exotic bird that would make the most hideously loud sounds all night long. This is no good for college students that need their evening/morning rest.

I'm not too sure about safety. I've witnessed a car break-in and have heard about incidents of violence in previous years. These were no doubt isolated cases, but it gives you something to think about in regards to the type of people you will be living with.

This was a very informative review, and fairly portrays the University Hills Apartments. Our management and maintenance team works hard to upgrade those aspects of the apartment units that can be reasonably addressed - such as new appliances, cabinet faces and countertops in the kitchens, and new cabinet faces, countertops, lighting, and shower and tub enclosures in the bathrooms. (Unfortunately, we can't move the toilets.) The units are spacious, and the tenants have lots of cupboards and closets in which to stow their stuff. MANAGEMENT REALLY CARES ABOUT THE TENANTS' COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE, and they do what they can to make the tenants' stay at the apartments a pleasant one. In an attempt to provide a quiet atmoshpere for studying, or for completing projects that may have been brought home from work, management does its best to keep the noise level to a minimum. Maintenance issues, which arise in any apartment complex (clogged garbage disposals, as an example), are dealt with promptly and efficiently, so that the tenants will not be unduly inconvenienced. Our four pools have recently been resurfaced, and BBQ pits in each of the four quads are in frequent use during the spring, summer and fall months. Newly installed access gates have almost eliminated car break-ins. A lot of attention has been paid to relandscaping the grounds with the result that the overall appearance of the property has improved remarkably. Parking is indeed adequate in and around the apartment buildings, however, THE CONVENIENT LOCATION OF THE PROPERTY IS ONE OF ITS BEST FEATURES. Though located in a quiet residential neighborhood, there is a small strip center just across the street that provides many of the life's basic necessities. As noted in the review, UCR students will find the University Book Exchange located there, and the campus itself is only a block away. The need to get into a car is practically eliminated. For non-students, RTA bus service for easy access to Riverside, may be found at the corner of Watkins Ave and Big Springs Rd. Overall, it is a good place to live, and still ONE OF THE BEST VALUES IN THE AREA. Though prices have been raised over the years, they still lag the average price of a one bedroom/one bath apartment in the Riverside area, as depicted on this website. WE INVITE YOU TO COME SEE US, and check out the property for yourself.
