I've like it here.

I have been living here for almost 2 years and I've liked it. My bathroom is huge! The storage is much more than ample. There are cute bunnies that snack on the grass when I come home and the complex is sort of out-of-the-way. Since I've lived here they have re-asphalted, redone the exterior lighting (think "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" lamp-posts), redone the clubhouse, and have rehab-ed the pool and pool deck. They have done a really good job keeping this 10 year old complex still looking new.
When I moved in I needed my parents to cosign. My mom is a "lady of leisure" and so she wasn't allowed to be the cosignatory. My dad had to fax and fedex a notorized application. But his debtfreeness and six digit a year paycheck weren't evidence enough of his credit worthiness. They insisted on verifying his employment with his boss. I found it irritating that an apartment complex would want to call the president of a national, multi-million dollar a year company to check-up on a vp who is all over the company website. But, in retrospect, I see what a wonderful thing this was. While other complexes in Riverside or Monero Valley are becoming occupied by gang members from LA, mine seems to be filled with nice looking people and families who keep their vehicles in good working order and pick-up their own trash. I guess the management knew what they were doing.
Things I like:
1. Mostly well-maintained gates (some jerk keeps pushing them open)
2. intruder alarms with optional monitering in all units
3. double-paned windows and doors (makes 110 degrees feel more like 100 degrees)
4. my very own washer and dryer
5. excellent kitchen layout (at least in 1 bedroom units)
6. the quiet
7. both instances of graffiti taken care of within a day of complaint
8. lots of cameras (might not work but make me feel safer)
9. the mailroom is always locked (you get a key)
10. many of my neighbors have been here at least as long as I have
11. neighbors are friendlier than the typical California crowd.
12. designed to be more energy effiecent. only 10 or 15 feet of exterior wall is ever unshaded. I pay only $10 a month more (on average) for electricity here than my previous apartment which was half the size of this one.
13. doors have peepholes
14. tiled entry for that one rainy day.
15. lots of closets and mirrors
16. the only thing I can think to change about my bathroom is adding a second towel rack
17. I have a huge patio. When it's cool out it's like discovering a whole new room!
18. sprayed my baseboards right after I moved in and haven't seen a bug
19. plenty of trash recepticals
20. pleasant landscaping
The two things I don't like:
1. The neighboring complex (Stone Canyon) doesn't have enough parking for it's residents. So inevitably there are 50 cars parked along the street by 8PM. It makes me nervous to drive by since I don't want to hit or be hit. It has occurred to me to buy a couple 10 gal buckets of red paint to make the whole street a fire lane, but I'm a little worried that might be a crime. Perhaps I'll start calling the police to ticket the people who park in front of the fire hydrant. Maybe then the city would make the street a fire lane for me....
2. The lackluster soundproofing. This is not a huge issue since people don't seem to play loud music or TV here. But if your neighbors fight or have unusually loud sex you might hear them. And Super Bowl Sunday is usually a little loud.
I'm moving out of state soon and the only think I'm going to miss about California is my apartment. But I'll find a bigger one at half the price. So I probably won't mourn long.

This person sounds like a totally spoiled brat. "My mommy can't co-sign so my big spender daddy has to." Booo hooo, I can't park. What a BRAT!! GET A REAL JOB.
