Nice place to live ONLY IF YOU GET A REMODELED APARTMENT

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009

First and foremost, the models that are shown are REMODELED. That said, NOT ALL OF THE UNITS WERE REMODELED. Silly yes, but for some reason, they did not complete them all.
My mother had been living here prior to my husband and I moving in. She is in a remodeled two bedroom: very nice, neutral paint, new fixtures, ceiling fan in dining area, laminate wood floors and a washer and dryer in the unit. When we agreed to rent here, it was under the impression that we would be receiving the same thing. WE DID NOT. The apartment we were given, was not upgraded/remodeled in any way, with the exception of having a new washer and dryer and refrigerator. When we first inspected it prior to move in, I brought that up to Maricela, in the office. Even though it was not fully upgraded, we comprised, and said we were willing to take it anyway, if they painted the interior the same neutral tan color. We waited three days for them to paint before we moved our belongings in, only to have them call on the last day to tell us that they could not paint the apartment because they had already put on a fresh coat of white paint and didn't want to spend the extra cost for the tan.
Since then, haven't had that many problems. A few maintenance requests for minor things, but maintenance was always quick to repair, that is, as long as I submitted the request to Maricela. The other girl working in the office, Lora, I think her name is not so bright. I don't know if she just had a problem with me, or she is generally rude to everyone.
Parking: okay. Gets tight at night, but that is what you'll find with most complexes.
Gates: work fine, whenever they malfunction, they are repaired quickly.
SAFETY: In the past few months, there has been a major problem with crime. People getting cars broken in to, and apartments broken in to. However, this has not happened to me. It's my understanding that all of this occurred on the other side of the complex (I live on the side of the office). Despite this, management did a reasonably good job of letting the residents know what was going on, and telling us to be more aware.
LOCATION: Great location because close to lots of shopping and restaurants. Plus, Kaiser Hospital is only two blocks away.
BUGS: We had a problem with roaches in apartment. Twice we notified Laura to spray, and they did not. When we put the request in through Maricela, it was completed. Now, I am in NO WAY a dirty person. I know this because I have obssessive compulsive disorder, and part of it causes me to clean compusively. So our apartment is always kept ----- and span. Didn't matter. Roaches kept coming. Eventually my husband laid bait for them, and since then, no more.
Overall, and OKAY place to live, but since they are raising the rent on the two bedroom to $1200/month, NO WAY we will stay. It would be worth that if we had a remodeled, but sincewe have an old one, it's not.
