1 car port parking spot available, not necessarily very near your appartment, must buy garage space at overpriced rate. Don't expect company; guest parking impossible to find. Expect your car to get dirty within 3 days.
Thin walls! Expect to hear downstairs female neighbors snoring, an occasional hum of AC unit outside, traffic from highway, barking dogs, an Upstair neighbor unknowingly thuding accross, And you the flush of toilet plumbing in the walls. Occasionally the sink/tub knob won't work & plastic shower head will fall off.
Management puts on a nice face with pleasantries. Offers of resident bbq's, nice community, and prompt awareness of mugger sightings. And they will call your work to see if you earn enough to pay your rent. And will convinently be unavailable to do apartment walk throughs. They will happily steam clean your new apparment's carpet, once the hidden dirt begins to reemerge (then maybe charge you later, after you move).
Don't expect deposit back. Cleaned floor like crazy, patched up pin holes, whashed the walls, mopped the floor, cleaned out stove & overhead hood filter, replaced stove catch, and repaired an already broken screen. They claim they will charge $60 for carpet cleaning (regardless of your esteemed job), and additional charges for repair work to walls (paint over pinholes, they mean, even though the pin holes were there when I moved in).
Appartments look nice, but poorly designed floorplans. Constantly hit head on corner of dropped ceiling cabnentry. Not enough cabinent space available. Small storage capability. Sometimes TV cable inappropriately located. Get a lamp, poor living room lighting. And tough to move furniture upstairs.
Beware of late rental fees, poor mail delivery, occassional miscommunication with management ('), occasional poop on sidewalk, litter left on your hood, rude community members honking for you to move your car out of their way, and energy inefficient consuming washer/dryer (ask if you can put your own in).
Please consult your attorney: there is no law that mandates landlords to replace carpet or paint. But they must maintain dwelling in a habitable condition, such that your health & safety is maintained (including triping, allergic reactions, and nuesance dust). You, the resident, are not responsible for damage beyond normal wear & tear; and the landlord may only recoup depreciated value from you for(not carpet replacement fees, unless it can be proven you caused damage).
