Questionable and Uncertain

Di Renzo is an apartment complex in one of the few "high end" areas of Riverside, Canyon Crest.

A suburb of Riverside where residents take pride in their homes and the surrounding streets and parks.

Di Renzo started off as a perfect match for this area, simple, elegant exterior and very high-end, elegant interior.

Rents were the most expensive or at the very least, one of the top three highest rents in the area.

Not everyone can afford 1600.00 and more for a 2 bedroom, typically those who can are professionals and people that would appreciate, respect and take care of their apartment both inside and out.

Which is why I rented here.

I struggled to pay the rent and had no issue signing pages of rules mostly of what "I" was responsible for such as no clutter or storage on the balcony and patio.

No boxes cluttering the garage, and garage must be able to park a car.

No loud music or noise after 10 p.m.

No abuse of the work out room, or common areas and no multiple vehicles and vehicles stored on the premises- and tags must be current.

Even garage inspections each month were promised and delivered to prevent abuse.

Over the months it became obvious that the management was either unwilling or unable to maintain the standards of the complex.

Tenants began staining the sidewalk walkways with car engine oil and leaving old broken down cars in parking spaces.

Garages are being overstocked where no cars can fit, and even residents have turned some other garages into bedrooms and game rooms- clearly against fire code and building and safety codes.

Also over the past few months the complex is renting, or tolerating up to 5, 6 and 7 tenants per two bedroom unit and its clear that this is now allowed with a "wink and nod" because the rent is high and roommates are needed to pay.

Several tenants who have moved recently- in the middle of the night, have so severely damaged the apartements that some had to be completely remodeled after being rented for only a few months.

Rats are now heard moving in the walls of units and the management does nothing but make empty promises.

Keep in mind that in addition to the high rents, tenants must pay their own water, trash and sewer along with gas, and electicity so add another $100 gas and electric of $100 and with rent your near close to $2000 per month- and that's the mid-range 2 bedroom.

Security was hired a few months to patrol and night and they have since disappeared- clearly they stopped that service or its only a couple of hours a night since more and more "thuggish" persons are hanging around the parking areas after dark.

Di Renzo also owns Castle Rock and Collenade across the street- haven's for crime, just call the Riverside PD and ask them the crime statistics, and you will get an ear full.

There is still hope for Di Renzo but it's bordering on turning bad, really bad if something doesn't change and change fast! What really amazes me is that they have the gall to raise the rents nearly $75 a month after a year and yet they sit in thier offices while the place falls apart.

Riverside and Moreno Valley are flooded with apartments and more to come.

True, Di Renzo still has the nicest ameneties and upgraded interiors such as grantie counter tops, and chrome faucets but how great are those features going to be if your car is getting robbed at night and you feel unsafe in your apartment' And are those features worth the $200-300 more per month' Make sure you look around the units, the walkways and stop a tenant and ask how their opinion before you rent.

And if your smart, write in a clause in your rental agreement that says, if Di Renzo does not live up to their promises and enforces thier rules then the agreement may be cancelled by you without penalty.

If they don't sign it that tells you something!!

So funny....I have lived here for almost 6 months and have never seen any of the things you are saying. It's a small community so you would think it would be obvious if there were broken down cars everywhere, and people living in there garages?!?! We are all entitled to our opinions but I would suggest people take a look for themselves,I have enjoyed my stay here, and am sad to leave (bought a home) but I would have to disagree with most of your comments here. Where are you living? It can't be the same direnzo I live at!

I have lived here for about a year now and have not seen broken down cars or oil stained driveways. By clutter on the balcony are you refering to chairs tables, plants and bbq's? Aside from these and one or two sat. dishes there is no clutter as far as I can see. As garages are concerned, who cares if people use it for storage? Living in the garage is one thing, but if someone chooses to park dirt bikes, quads, bicycles, or boxes in their garage, how does that affect you? I love it here, it is quiet, the walls are thick, neighbors are nice and the maintainance staff is awesome. If you find rent here bad, mabey you should move somewhere cheaper and see how you like it there, or mabey you should move to Beverly Hills since this place is just sooo GHETTO and see what you can get for the same amount you pay here. Aside from cars being broken into... but after all it is Riverside...my stay here has been great and I am sorry that you find it so terrible here, but what do I know, mabey on your side of the complex it is different. Mabey a security gate would be good to help with the auto thefts. And what thugish people are you seeing?? Some residents look a little rough around the edges but they are good, honest, working people or students. If there are bad people around mabey you should call the cops cuz they are probably looking for cars to break into. Mabey a community watch group should be formed so we can all keep an eye on eachothers property, look after one another; or we could just type on this thing and not do anything but complain.

I was thinking of moving in but now I'm not sure, how can your cars be touched if you keep them in the garage? I'm more concerned that you heard rats in the walls, that freaks me out I'm very afraid of those rodants, and how can a new apt. bldg like that have rats, this is concerning me, I don't have small children they are grown, but I do have granchildren, and I hope that is not a problem is this community.
