Find another place to rent

I was stuck in an 18 month lease. The upstairs water heater broke. Leaked into my $975 a month one-bedroom downstairs apt. They brought in fans. My bedroom furniture was wet, so was the carpet under the bed. Their solution was to put my furniture outside while they ran the fans in the bedroom or replaced the carpeting. OR I could relocate to another apt. They only had 2-bedroom upstairs apts available at $1,040 a month. Ended up moving into one of them. Was there one day and discovered there were cockroaches. They sprayed once. I sprayed the second time. Then the a/c didn't work. Lived in a 90 degree apartment for almost two weeks before they figured out that the a/c unit was broke. Paid a $200 a month PG&E bill and the place never cooled off below 90 degrees even with the new a/c unit. The maintenace people were good. They tried their best. The office people sucked. Always had an excuse for everything. I was also initally told that the water/garbage/sewage was about $20 a month. It averaged bout $68 a month!
