the apartments have always been pretty safe. in the 1 1/2 years that i've lived here we had our bicycle stolen (which was locked) and have heard of only 1 person having any other issue while living here. however, the other night something very.... annoying happened. this is a press release taken from the city of rocklin's police department:

Tires Slashed and Spray Painted Vehicles


During the early morning hours of May 29th at least 17 vehicles were vandalized along Rocklin Road from Sierra College Blvd to I-80 , most of them in an apartment parking lot.

Rocklin Police Officers responded to a report of slashed tires on a truck just after midnight in the Denny s restaurant parking lot at 4460 Rocklin Rd. At 1:30 AM a resident from the Rocklin Manor Apartments at 5240 Rocklin Rd. called regarding a motorcycle that was knocked over and spray painted. Throughout the early and midmorning hours officers and owners found over a dozen more vehicles that were vandalized with slashed tires and spray paint.

One witness saw two subjects wearing dark clothing with one wearing a baseball cap in the area during the night.

The Rocklin Police Department asks that anyone who may have seen suspicious activity along Rocklin Road during the early morning hours to call the Rocklin Police Department Investigations Unit at (916)625-5443.

Each vandalism occurrence, if costing over $400.00 to repair, is a felony.

For two days now I've been trying to call the office with no answer to my calls. You know how they have decided they're going to deal with this problem' today they left us a flier about a neighborhood watch meetings. what a slap in the face. nothing about getting an outside security persont o patrol or better lighting around the parking spots so this doesn't happen again. gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7

Nothing really helps like a neighborhood watch. Just knowing that everyone is on the same page and watching out for each other is a big deterrent. The patrol and lights would help too though.
