Honest review, not favorable

If you?re not from the area (Rocklin), the first thing you should know is that Rocklin has MANY choices for apartment complexes. If I were to do it again, I would stay away from this one.
Where should I start' Initially, they couldn?t seem to remember the day I was supposed to move in. I came in to pay my deposit (weeks before I was supposed to move in) and they weren?t ready for it, even after they had told me to come in and pay it.
Move in day was a bit disappointing? My wife and I found large chips missing from the sink, grout was dirty around the shower, the toilet seat was filthy and paint was scuffed in many places. All in all, it was not very clean. They felt really bad about this and promised to have it fixed ASAP. It took over 2 weeks for them to fix the issues.
I normally wouldn?t bring up utilities when talking about an apartment, but there are some things you REALLY need to know. Initially I had ordered a standard phone line. I hooked up my phone on move in day and there was an obnoxious buzz on it and it wouldn?t ring. I had SBC come out and they explained to me that the problem was not on there end and to have maintenance come out and switch some cabling around. Maintenance came out after about 5 days (all that time with no phone) and told me that there was no problem. To make a long story short, it took weeks for my phone to be installed and the problem ended up being on Sunset Summits side of the wiring.
This apartment complex has its own Cable TV. 2 words, VERY BAD. If you drive through the complex you will see an assortment of satellite dishes? There is a good reason for this. The Cable TV system is maintained by some outfit out of Washington State called Priority Systems. Not only was the quality horrible, the service was equally bad. It was $35 a month and it seemed like every other week we?d loose a channel. When we lost a channel, it would take weeks; yes weeks to get it back on the air. And all for 35, maybe 40 channels at most.
About 3 weeks in, we received a letter from the office that we had forgotten to pay a $35 application fee. This came to a surprise to us because no one had ever told us we needed to pay an application fee. They eventually forgot about this and never bothered us again. They are VERY forgetful ? more to come on this.
We would always find notes from the office sitting on our doorstep (literally) blowing in the wind giving us important information like (no joke) our lease was up and we needed to renew. Shouldn?t you tape that to our door or maybe put it in our mailbox' I find the whole office staff to lack SERIOUS common sense.
Just recently I had a very important package delivered. I had it dropped off at the apartment office for me to pick up after work? I found myself running late, so I called the office staff and asked them to leave the package on my doorstep. When I arrived home it was no where to be found. I had to call around and find it?
At one point our air conditioner stopped blowing air. I was there when the maintenance guy came by to take a look. He removed our intake filter and I swear to you, it had YEARS of dirt in it. It had obviously not been changed in a very long time.
It?s hard to believe that what I?m saying is true, but it is. I?m sorry these comments are so long and antiquated but I wanted to make sure you?re fully aware of what you?re getting into if you decide to rent at Sunset Summit in Rocklin, CA. Good luck in your apartment hunting.
