Lowest price in area for a reason

In 2003 I started looking for a place closer to work, and found Sunset Summit.
It was the cheapest in the area, but we have since found that it is for a reason.
It is one of the older complexes in the area, and shows it.
It's in no way fancy, but has served us well in terms of a place to stay.
We haven't had any issues with crime, but have seen the Rocklin Police Department in the area many times for car break ins, etc.
The reason we left though is because when it came time for us to move up to a larger apartment, we were told that we would have to either wait until the end of our lease (and at that point there is no knowing if a larger unit would be available) or pay to break our lease.
Our opinion was simply that if we had to break our lease to move up to a larger unit in that complex, we might as well move into an even larger unit up the street, seeing as how we'd have to break our lease anyway.
All in all, you get what you pay for.
The clubhouse and being able to reserve it for use is very nice, especially because it seems like almost none of the residents use it.
Also of note, due to the lower pricing, it tends to attract younger tenants, which may or may not appeal to you depending on your needs/desires.
