I moved to the Meridian from their sister property Rocklin Ranch in June of 2008. I left Rocklin Ranch due to a noisy downstairs neighbor (bass rattling my floorboards daily up to 3:00 a.m.) otherwise I would have remained at that property as it was a very nice complex.
The Meridian does have some positives going for it. The apartments are painted an earth tone so they have more of a finished look. The master bedroom has a garden tub which is much more comfortable than the tiny one at my prior residence. The complex has a lot of green areas and nice storage on the patio. I, too, agree that the patios need to have a solid floor, though, as my downstairs neighbor smokes on hers and the smoke drifts up to my balcony and through my closed sliders. Compared to Rocklin Ranch the window and door fittings are very rinky-dink and appear to be something one would expect from a much older complex. This makes for drafts and window and door rattling during a brisk storm. I have to agree, though, that they do have great events for residents and their Holiday party was really impressive this past Christmas.
One of the areas where I think the Meridian fails is maintenance. When I moved in I had a problem with my door handle. They made up the work order, lost it and then contacted me a month later to see if I still needed it fixed. Any other maintenance issue I've had has taken over a week for someone to appear at my door. As someone else mentioned, the applicances here are bare bones. The kitchen also has a double sink that is very shallow on both sides in which a stew pot would never fit. When washing dishes I've always got water splayed all over the countertop trying to fit a pot or dish in the sink. The counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms are a white formica that stains extremely easily. I'm already anticipating at move-out I'll be dinged for my coffee rings as I remember when I looked at the apartments every one I was shown had someone in there resurfacing the counter tops. Rocklin Ranch had faux-marble countertops that didn't show a thing.
I am also not a big fan of the dark hallways at the apartment to get to your door. Again, makes me think of an older complex. Parking is adequate even though there appears to be no rhyme or reason to the covered spots. Open parking, though, is plentiful. I wonder at the placement of the trash cans as in several congested areas there is only one available while in other less congested areas there are up to four. Mailbox placement is also an issue as mine is quite a hike from my apartment while a closer one is available.
I don't plan to make the Meridian my home for too long as their rents continue to go up with me now paying $1,290 a month for a two-bedroom, two-bath unit without a fireplace. I can rent a house for just a couple of hundred more and plan to do so when my lease expires. They have no interest in offering incentives to keep tenants long-term and would rather turn over apartments regularly instead.

I agree with your comments, and will also be moving at the end of my current lease too...as they offer me NO incentive to sign a new lease. Maintenance people have been very good and have had no problems. One thing I can't understand is the fact that the stove fan isn't ducted outdoors. What good is it then, with just a filter!
