Hmmmm. After reading the reviews here I feel compelled to share the recent experience of some aquaintances of mine. They took a tour and filled out an application for a 3 bedroom, as they are expecting their first child in a few months. They had an excellent rental record, but some question marks on their credit history which they were very up front about with the management. After specifying what their particular issues were, the management assured them that this would not be a problem and, if anything, they would be charged a higher deposit upon move in. That was okay with my friends, and they paid the $60 credit application fee. They then began making plans for the upcoming move, notifying friends and family of their new address and arranging for help with the relocation. One week later, the management called and told them bluntly that their application was denied. No explanation as to the reason, as the once friendly staff was no longer friendly.
I find it curious that this money was taken with assurances that they would be accepted. $30 per person seems a bit steep to me, many other places charge $15. Is it just Deer Valley, or can they expect this treatment from other complexes once they resume their search' Apartment hunting could get very expensive, very fast!-- especially if you end up not moving anywhere. I guess the lesson here is, don't mess up your credit! But if you have (as many of us have) and you're honest about it, and you've been reassured by staff that your specific credit issues won't be a problem... who can you trust'
