I've lived in Foothills Tennis Village(FTV) twice, once for 1.5 years, and presently for 8 months. My 1 bedroom apartment is spacious, and since I'm on the second floor, I have a nice view of the area, especially on "blue sky" days and when the the stars are out at night.
Considering what other apt. complexes in the area charge for rent, I strongly feel FTV is a good value for the money. There are 2 pools and a spa. The gym has a Nautilas, 2 treadmills, a bicycle, stairmaster, an advanced nordic track machine, and a TV/radio/VCR player. So, you can bring in your favorite tape, and watch it while you work out, or listen to the TV or radio. All machines are in good working order, and the exercise room has very flexible hours(7AM - 11 PM). Having the exercise room adjacent to the heated pool means you can take a dip and cool off after a workout too. And that's all included in the rent.
FTV may look aged, but it's been active since 1990 and considering this is Roseville with lots of heat and sunshine, the exteriors of the buildings have aged, but inside the units are kept up well.
My neighbors are very friendly, but they'll respect your privacy if you're a private person. That's definitely your call.
And no, I'm not getting paid to write this.
I've lived in a lot worse apt. complexes, that's for sure!!!
