A nice place to live now - different than before

I've lived here for two years and it's true that the previous management was crummy. They were polite but unresponsive to requests and problems, of which I experienced very few.
The new management that has been in place for several months is great - they're really on top of things. Staff is not only polite but takes care of business as far as responding if there is a problem to be fixed. Recently there was a cracked step leading to my apartment and they fixed it even before I had a chance to tell them about it myself - that's how proactive they are! My rental unit has not had anything break in two years (thank goodness) and was very clean at move in.
They evicted a neighbor with a dog that barked constantly and another problem neighbor so I feel they are on top of keeping this a pleasant community and keeping people playing by the requirements in the lease agreement. Plus as of October '08 they're re-siding, re-roofing and re-painting every building and the work I've seen so far looks very nice. The neighborhood is safe and although I don't wander around much at night I've never felt threatened or had a crime committed against me personally. The one complaint I have is that they don't accept UPS/FedEx packages - they won't sign for them at the office, which is baloney and has been very inconvenient a couple times. I just have items delivered to a friend's house instead and then pick them up there. I'd recommend this complex now with the existing management.

This review likely was written by staff. The staff has been alerted to a broken basketball rim, no swings on the children's swing set, the racketball court has been destroyed and not reopened to tenants, the tennis court net is severely damaged,...Need I say more?

No, I'm not staff, I'm just someone who is happy with where I live and doesn't use the recreation facilities at the complex because I prefer to use my gym membership. Therefore, I'm not aware of the state of those facilities. I didn't even know they had a playground at Ashford Park! Well, current staff has responded promptly to my requests and I'm sorry to hear someone else say differently. The one thing about this neighborhood is they need more parks. For people with children, the nearest park is probably a 20 minute walk away which is too far, especially considering that there are about 3 apartment complexes right in the area so a close park is needed. I don't know what to tell you about the damaged items, but if it were me I'd follow up with management and try to get in writing expected dates of repairs, then get back to them if they don't stick to it. I couldn't stand the old management - they had outside lights burned out for several months in the winter and didn't address it when it's a safety issue to have adequate lighting...yet we're all expected to pay rent on time when they weren't providing needed services? Whatever!
