Dear Residents, and Future residents:
My name is Valerie, and I am the Lease Up Specialist for our management company. I work out of our Corporate Office, and have had the opportunity to meet many of you in my time here at Capitol Place.
I have worked for this property since it has opened, and I am very shocked to see some of the remarks on the site. I would like to assure you that you are all an extremely important part of our community, and try to understand what it is that has made you so unhappy with us. As always, you have a right to your opinions, and I can't agree or disagree to the comments written here, as I have not always been here for some of your move ins, and have been away for months at a time, but, I can assure you that we have a wonderful team in our office that wants nothing more that for you to be satisfied with where you live. We have had a change in our management team since many of you first arrived, as while many of you have had the opportunity to meet our new community manager and bookkeeper, many of you haven't. Please stop by and meet them at your convenience. We are open 7 days a week.
We wouldn't intentionally come to work on a daily basis to ensure the misery of our tenants! How are we supposed to fix some of the past things that have gone on, if we don't know about them' The only way we find out that you are unhappy is by anonymous letters in the rent drop, or the "unknown" comments on this site, that we hear about later from our prospective residents. I assure you, WE CARE! Please... come by, and tell us how we can correct your dissatisfaction with your apartment here, or make you comfortable in the community you pay rent for. We haven't forgotten that you are what keeps us in business here, and you are what gives us our jobs. We are here, everyday, trying to make Capitol Place the best community for you to live in, but we need your help in doing that.
So please, I will ask you, instead of writing a bad review, about how unhappy you are here, because everyone knows that when you are unhappy you want to tell 20 people, but when you are happy, you don't have time to tell 1.... Come by our office, call ME personally, and tell me what I can do for you today. I'd be more than happy to go out of my way to make you smile, and learn what our community team can do to make a difference for YOU.
We aren't just an apartment community, or a business... we are real people, with families, and feelings, and mistakes, just like you. Give us a chance to work with you, and for you. Many of you know me by my name, Valerie, as many of you have rented your home with me. If you don't know me, I'm here everyday.. come by and meet me. I'm more than happy to help out with anything I can.
Thanks for listening, and please, let us know how we can help. Feel free to email me and/or our community manager anytime, or call us.
Valerie

Don't let this posting fool you. This complex is as corporate as it gets, and their staff is unresponsive to valid complaints as can be. I lived here for a year and had service requests from the FIRST WEEK I LIVED IN THE APARTMENT unanswered by my moveout date. Nevermind they're attempting to keep 400 for carpet cleaning and painting the walls, without itemizing their deductions from the deposit. They also retained an additional amount of the deposit because their accounting is completely disasterous (they didn't have the correct amount of my deposit listed on their final clearing form that they returned to me.) I am having to deal with their corporate office in Seattle now, and will most likely end up having to take them to court to recover the monies they ILLEGALLY withheld. I encourage everyone reading this who lives at Capitol Place (or anywhere else for that matter!) to educate yourself on your rights as a tenant in the State of California (caltenantlaw.org is a great website with information, and read Civil Code 1950.5) So I stick to what I said in my review... save you sanity -- move somewhere else. These people don't know the first thing -- but you won't know that til they take the first swing... |

i haven't had any problems with valerie or any of the other staff, and i've lived here for over a year. i'm just confused about many of these ratings-- valerie is super nice (although I haven't seen her around for a while-- does she still work here?) and i love living here. it isn't perfect, but it's a very pleasant place to live.
