For a downtown complex, Century Plaza Apartments are a nice place to live as far a location and convience. The outside of the complex is old but with the new paint job it looks pretty decent (thanks to the old landlord having them painted). If you work downtown, you can't beat the price. There is a laundry room on every floor. There used to be a garbage shoot on every floor as well but the new management nailed it shut. There is a small sized pool next to the alley which is very nice when it is kept clean. If you want to park in a covered spot they offer garage parking which is nicer especially in the summer time when it get very hot. The guy who complained about stray animals leaving a mess on his vehicle is correct though. If you have a jeep with a canvas, or a new car, you might not want park in the garage.
Be aware of the new management since she is somewhat dishonest, violent (at times), and tardy as far as repairs. I have lived at the complex for almost a decade and never ever had a problem with the old manager since she was so responsible and friendly. Also, the old manager would try to accomadate for your needs as well as your whatever repairs needeed in the complex. Annually, the old manager would give X-mas parties and when she decided to quit as manager, the whole complex threw her a going away party. THAT is how much the tenants appreciated her.
The new managament, aka Vicki Holster, is a different story. She has been known to start a fight and physical threaten the tenants. Vicki also threatens to evict in a retalitory way. You'll constantly hear her complaining about the tenants in the hallways of the complex and she has been seen tampering with non-preferred tenants' air conditioning on the roof of the building. Vicki has only been a manager at the complex since Jan. 2009, but has had major issues with at least 6 or 7 neighbors that I know of. All of the tenants that left the apartment complex had lived there long before I even moved in.
What was once a very peaceful, happy and safe complex to live in has change drastically within 6 months. I too had to decide to leave because of the management and the lack of repairs they had done for my apartment. The owner of the building asked me once what he could do to make me stay since I was such a good tenant. My only answer was..."Fire Vicki!"
I'm sure the current management won't last long, but if you're thinking about renting, just make sure the manager isn't Vicki Holster or you will regret it.

The owner is scared to death of the tenants, so I doubt he personally spoke to this person. The fights were with tenants who were threatening to kill the manager when the owner had her evict them for not paying their rent. Both of those tenants were felons. One is even on Megan's Law List. The old Manager, Barbara, would have people pay in cash, so she could use the money to throw parties. The apartment I rented was never cleaned in the first place and I had to spend the first day scrubbing it clean. But she did collect all the deposits, etc. real quick. Took me two weeks to get the mail key and she had someone else give me the garage door opener. At least the new manager trys to get things done in a timely manner, but the owner only gives her so much to work with. I have to assume this review above was left by one of the evictees. Also, the only one tampering with the roof was the tenant none as Craig who is a felon and was evicted. Who also constantly had the fire department out here and they never found anything wrong.

I am the new Property Manager here at Century Plaza Apartments. Due to the former Management here, and after I started one year ago we had to evict several people for non-payment of rent Now it sounds like we have some unhappy former resident's.I have basically cleaned out the debris from the hallways (per the Sac City Fire Dept)painted the lobby, cleaned/repaired/painted all vacated apartments as some had not been done before residents moved in.I believe the complex is a great place to live now. We have underground gated parking for $50 per month( a rare find in this area), laundry facilities on every floor, pool, bike racks. We are walking distance to bus stop, capitol, state offices, Starbuck's, shopping ,restaurants, and more.If your looking for an apartment check out our newly reduced rent prices. Overall a great place to live!!

After being accused by the management, V.H., of writing a review, I thought, okay, I will review the Century Plaza Apartments.
When I first moved in, I was happy. Secured gates, front lobby with mailboxes inside, garbage chutes on all three floors, as well as laundry rooms on each floor. A pool to use at will. Oh, and since the windows were closed in the summertime, it stayed cool!
The garbage chutes have been nailed shut since V.H. took over. The pool has been closed more often than not. The place is an oven in the summer as she OPENS all the windows to let the heat in.
Yes, people have moved out. Because the new management has issues. Maybe she doesn't take her medication as she should. She will cuss you out before she'll say hello. She calls and leaves really nasty messages on the answering machine (which are kept!). She is extremely unpleasant to be around as she is always bitching about something.
She increased several tenants' rent to be equal to the other apartments around this area...which is SO NOT WORTH the price anymore. Tenants who had been here for years have left because of her irrationality. Now she's offering reduced rent! She ain't reduced mine.
This is NOT "Overall a great place to live!!" There are better, nicer, apartments around Midtown and Downtown to move in to. The first two reviews were spot on!
