Lies lies and more lies

If you are planning on moving into Fairlake apartments, DONT!
Be aware of the management's ability to lie and decieve about what you are getting into and never believe anything they tell you unless they put it in writing and sign it. The managers here will say/do anything to get you to sign something that holds you to a financial agreement.
Parking is horrable, sometimes taking 20+ min to park and a 10 min walk back to your apartment in the dark. Security is a joke, the grounds are always open since the gate is never shut and everyone knows a code or two to get in. The security is seen constantly hanging out with the tenants in thier apartments, drinking and lounging, instead of patroling the grounds. I have had more than one friend get into a fight and beaten because they would look at someone wrong walking across the apartments. Police are here nightly.
The area is loud due to constant parties so if you don't like noise, don't come here. This is a student complex (80%+), reguardless of what the managers will tell you.
I have been openly lied to about various things by the managers. High bandwidth internet is available in VERY FEW apartments and is only available as DLS, no cable internet. We were told all apartments had DSL only to find our didn't when we moved in. Cable TV is not available in all apartments and niether is mini dish since they are very strick on where you can place a minidish. They must have found thier maitnence crew on a street corner because they don't know how to fix anything correctly. If you must fix something, do it yourself. Half of the bath tubs in the apartments do not drain and thier response is "that is just how this type of tub works" when your neighbor has the same one and thiers works fine.
I was also lied to about the deposit amount and the co-signer requirments. My roommate and I were told a $500 deposit untill after we paid an initial $300 downpayment then they told us it would be an $800 deposit and the $300 was non-refundable if we were to back out now. Then when moving in and signing the final papers/making final payments they told us it would be $1200 since we had a co-signer and the co-signer would have to be here in person to sign. Not two day prior, they told us that the co-signer would not have to be here. I specifically asked because I was moving from Oregon and the Co-signer was living in Washington. Luckly, the co-signer had come down to help me move, but it was a preview of further deceptions we would get down the road about financial agreements.
So my advice is to avoid this place if at all possable, it is not a nice as they will make it appear to be. And if you do decide to move in here, only do so if you can tolerate the noise because complaining about it will only make your problems worse. Also, anything that the managers tell you, make sure you get in writing and signed along with copies of the rent check given to them every month.
