The Fountains at Point West is located just across the Double Tree Hotel. I consider the area very accessible and safe. The only problem that I can think of are vagabonds hanging around outside, but they are harmless. My car got broken-in when I parked outside, so park inside. I consider the population of my neighbors to be professionals and some young college kids. One time I left my keys outside and my neighbor left a note on my door to pick-up my keys in her apartment. :-)
The secured buildings help, but at time they don't lock-up very well. The exhaust system in the kitchen are non-existent. If you live in the secured bldg., you will get the cooking odor/scent. Management staff are friendly, young, & they follow-through; at least they do for me. The plumbing system are old & they do need some maintenance. If you live in the first floor, you may experience flooding. The maintenance staff acts pretty fast & they seem to be knowledgable. I'd move-in only if I work nearby. Management offers free dvd rentals, which I sometime partake. No SBC/Pac-bell DSL, only Comcast broadband hook-ups.
