Jury is still out, but I'm content so far

I haven't rented in quite a while, and the last time I did rent it was in San Francisco where your rent money doesn't buy you much.
While rent here is cheaper for what you get, it is still more expensive than I had anticipated.

===================================== I like:

Two months free rent with a 12 month
lease. Just don't break the lease, because you'll owe them those 2 months, plus additional penalties.

Washer/Dryer in my unit
The pantry
The walk-in closet

My garage (I sprang for one). It's fine for my car, but I'd hate to try parking an SUV in one of these.

The gym, though I suspect this small one will be very, very crowded once the complex fills up.

The pool (when summer rolls around)
Proximity to work (10 minute commute!!!)
Stores nearby (especially Raley's and Blockbuster)
They'll take my dog

Things I don't like:

Ants, first week. I bought an organic spray from Raley's that seems to be keeping these pesky critters at bay for the time being.

The mail box is far from my unit

So are the garbage and recycling, but not AS far as the mail box.

The kitchen cabinets are plentiful, but their interiors are lousy.

No elevator. This makes moving into 2nd and 3rd floor units difficult.

Things in the office seem in disarray sometimes. The focus is on sales, not on service. I would expect (hope) that that changes as the complex fills up.

You are not allowed to leave your dog on your patio or balcony unless you are at home yourself. They must remain in your unit - and they are not allowed to relieve themselves in the unit even if you put out a litter box for that purpose.

Things I wish they had:

Additional rentable storage.
Elevators.
A special area for dogs. Your dogs are not allowed to 'relieve' themselves anywhere within the perimeter of the complex, and there is no place for them to play, unless you use one of the adjacent open fields, which will eventually be built on.

============================================= my unit is nice, but I can't get excited about it. This is temporary for me; I'm looking for a house to purchase.
