First off, I want to thank Granite Point. I will never live in an apartment community for as long as I can help it. This comes after happily living in apartments for the past 10 years. I lived at the complex for a little over a year. The girls at the front desk were always perky and cheerful up until you signed the rental contract. After that, service went downhill and you were just another tenant. Now, this is pretty much the case at every apartment complex I've been to, but these girls take the prize. Just merely asking for a package I felt like they were doing me a favor. (I read similar stories on here so this is true). I finally gave up on asking them for anything and tried to avoid the main office as much as possible. Out of the 13 months I lived there I was lucky to have good neighbors 11 months. The complex was generally quiet although there were several cars that liked to street race down the main road. The main road was also used as a shortcut for ARCO Arena attendees to bypass the stop light which was very annoying. Also, although it decreased with the gates, people still used the parking lot to bypass paying $10 at ARCO. I would constantly see people coming and going from events that I knew didn't live there. The gates were merely for looks as they are at most complexes. Cars would just stop and wait for someone to open them. Due to the fact that a Section 8 (Low Income Housing) apartment complex is across from Granite Point you would see these "tenants" walking through the complex. I was lucky not to have anything broken into, but I did hear of several car thefts and one apartment burglary while I was there. They also did notify us that a woman was mugged/assaulted on the complex. Never were we notified of thefts. The on-premise security was pretty much a joke with a flashlight and you'd be lucky to get through to them on their cell. Luckily I only had to call them twice for noise. Prepare to pay for sewage/trash/water, gas, and electric. I've never been at a complex that made you pay for sewage/trash/water so maybe I was just lucky for 9 years' You're also out of luck if you want cable TV with Comcast. While I was there you had only one option other than putting up your own satellite dish and that was AT&T Home Entertainment (standard DirecTV without the option of DVR or HD). Now they have AT&T UVerse but it's still only one choice. If you want Internet you can get DSL or dial-up, or wireless through UVerse. So if you like cable modem speed...you're out of luck at this complex. There really wasn't anything "luxury" about Granite Point. It's a typical newer complex with basic apartment appliances. The cabinet space is very limited, shallow kitchen sinks, faux granite countertops, and plastic showers/tubs and bathroom sinks. So I'm not sure what qualifies it to use the term. Lastly, I spent several days cleaning inside and out before my final move out day just as I have with my other places I've lived. I have always received my full deposit back so I didn't think I had anything to worry about. I even cleaned better than the last place just in case. I finally got my refund and was charged for carpet cleaning/heavy soil cleaning, house cleaning, and paint. The carpets were well under "normal wear/tear" and I even spot cleaned them with a carpet cleaner before I turned in the keys. I also did touch-up paint. DO THEY NOT CLEAN THE CARPETS NO MATTER HOW CLEAN THEY ARE' I can understand the $20 heavy soil fee, but wouldn't the carpets have to be cleaned for the next tenant anyways' This kind of grossed me out thinking that maybe they weren't cleaned before I moved in. This was truly a first and now last for me. I took plenty of pictures the day I moved in and also on the day I moved out for evidence and I highly recommend you do the same no matter what complex you move into. I'm contemplating notifying my attorney. So if you move in, plan on not receiving any of your deposit back and put away a few dollars in case they try to charge you extra at the end. Good luck at Faux-Granite Point.

Wow your experience sounds very much like ours. Glad to know we are not the only ones. Good luck to you and I hope you go after them. We didn't have the balls.
