All good things must come to an end...

I lived in Harbor Oaks for three years prior to moving to Los Angeles. Until it sold, the place was ideal. Lush scenery, maintained lawns, beautiful ponds and excellent, professional neighbors.
All good things must come to an end, however. The management changed, an awful wrought iron fence was erected all around the complex with gates that seldom worked, construction was begun on several garages that were too small for most of the cars there and reduced the parking by half (not to mention cost $60 /month), parking for non-residents was not enforced and people started to block one another in and park in fire zones, security was reduced (not that they did much but keep you out of the hot tub after 10) and management was unresponsive to maintenance requests. I recall one instance, before going on vacation, where I had to clear off my entire patio (plants, fountain, etc) because they insisted it had to be torn down and replaced, and after complying with this outrageous request they ended up replacing only one board on the outside of the patio. Residents became less and less professional, and soon I had some drug addict living beneath me with a vicious Rotweiler that howled day and night. Despite the external veneer and facade of luxury, a quick glance at the residents, their automobiles and the apathy of the office staff show that this place is NOT what it makes it out to be! If you want luxury, try Adagio, if you want economy, try any of the other complexes in the area across the street.
