Stayed for several years. Experience was great overall. Responsive maintenance (anything built the last few years was cheaply made, therefore there were constant lttle cheap-o things breaking here and there!) ... Nighttime Staff extremely helpful.
Over time the quality of management went down hill. In turn the community quality started slipping. They slowly started eliminating perks (i.e.) business center no longer 24hours, community events became a shell of there former self, etc. It was slow, but then quality of tenants started slipping too. Clearly, the penny pinchers started elbowing there way into the management team.
In fact, management is the only real problem. Leasing agents are nice and 'sweet' but practically incompetent. Sort of like your friendly Staples clerk - pretty and friendly people who really cannot actually "Help you."
WARNING - But the kicker - upon move-out two things: 1) They will not provide a reference. I have a stellar rental history, and awesome credit score (750 ), but in the competitive midtown rental market, two potential landlords did not rent to me because Homecoming had a policy not to provide a reference.
2) Homecoming charges a cleaning and carpet cleaning fee REGARDLESS of the condition of the unit at move out. Folks, this is illegal. I consider it theft. I left my unit immaculate, it was spotless (I know, everyone says that, but it was true...). They STILL charged more than $700 in 'cleaning' fees. I recommend don't bother cleaning. Might as well get your money's worth.
Conclusion: Pretty good place seemed to be slipping in quality, and they will go after you once your gone! Why bother renting a premium place that has that attitude'

You are absolutely right. I said the same thing in my posting about charges in cleaning and carpet and took a big chunk in my deposit. And you are right, regardless of how immaculate you left your apartment. They still charge you. I think it is not fair. For those reading, beware of what Homecoming does to you when you leave their place. I just hope someone reading this who knows much about laws will do something about the unfairness they are doing to people to get MORE MONEY on their side. Which to me is like a form of "STEALING". Yet if you read their policy that residents sign, they are good in keeping themselves on the SAFE GROUND. Not unless their is a loophole one lawyer can see.
