So with a bit of research, i've come to find out that several people here are telling the truth. There WAS a shooting here. Report: http://www.news10.net/storyfull1.asp'id=12711
Follow-up report here: http://www.news10.net/storyfull1.asp'id=12736
If anyone knows which apartment this happened in, i'd like to know.

My roomate and I have been here since late last year and since then, it's been car break in and vandelism one after another. I have pictures to prove one incident!

What my roomie and I didn't know before we moved in was just how close to a bad area we lived. We're right on the edge! Coming over that overpass on San Juan, we are the very first complex you come across. Therefore, we get hit up ALL THE TIME! I'm scared, because while this is a very beautiful place to live, there are always shady people walking by or hanging around the complex.

And I mean this literally. On several occasions, I have seen seedy people hanging out of their cars in the middle of our entry ways late at night!

and the noise...oh, boy. I don't think i've EVER been able to sleep in. I understand the landscapers coming around once a week, but my apartment is on the side facing all the new housing developemets. The construction workers always start up before the sun comes up and they even work on Saturdays! Besides this, I do have upstairs neighbors that love to watch action movies on full blast.(Sounds like BOMBS going off!) But all that aside...The apartments tend to keep noise in pretty well, just not from wall-to-wall neighbors.

Pool is shallow (Only as deep as 5 ft.), often not clean, or closed for maintenence. Usage is pretty anal. Fireworks were not allowed at all during 4th of July.

Parking here is a joke. There purposely are not enough spots, so you'll opt to buy a garage, but now we've gotten to the point where there are not enough of either. During the day there are plenty of spots, but as soon as it gets dark, people fight for spots. If you leave, immediately your spot is taken. It's like playing musical chairs. Often times you are forced to park on the street over, which has now become crowded as well.

Staff...very pushy! They make you feel rushed to move in when they flash special offers in front of you. You think "Oh, this is such a good deal! The offer is about to end, I have to take it!" After you're suckered in, they really aren't very much help. We've reported several things wrong with our apartment and help has come by ONCE to give a look and has never returned.

When the maintenence man came by the one and only time, I was shocked when he knocked once and barged right in! = O I pretended it didn't bother me because I wanted his help. He fixed the window that had been broken before we had even moved in and told us he'd be back to fix our other problems...He never returned!

My roomate and I understood this was a high-flood risk area, but during the lease signing, the management wasn't even going to tell us until we asked about flood insurance...and suddenly, oh conveniently, they had a seperate stack of papers for insurance from under their desk. = /

This place is gorgeous, but the crime is high. The apartments themselves are spacious and accomadating. One strange thing is every room is cable ready, but we can't get Comcast in this area. Only a mom and pop cable company called Strategic. We opted for Satellite like everyone else...found out you're not allowed to drill through your outside walls for the setup, so we're stuck with flat-cables that we have to run through our patio door. They work horribly, since you have to slam the door on them to lock your door.

If you don't pay your rent the day it's due, the same day you immediately recieve a 3-days notice to pay or quit...lovely.

Place is still very nice, but not worth the $1490 a month. I could rent a house for that much. (Of course none of the houses around here. The small ones range around half a million each!)

I hope my review was helpful...I'm not trying to slander. Only reveal the truth. I don't want others to get duped into something they never asked for.

As the past manager at the Lofts, yes there was a murder there. It was in building 5. I haven't worked there in over a year so I can't remember which apartment #. It was close to the office on the second floor (in a low-income/tax credit apartment). It was something that with the people involved was going to happen, but happened there. It was sad. Neither one of the people involved lived at The Lofts. So it is true crime has no address. The Lofts are beautiful and built just ok. Building 13 is jinxed, floods, crazy people, etc... but that could have changed. It's sad that the management doesn't care about the residents like I did. They are the #1 priority! Overall, I would live there if I had to. Natomas is all about who has the better special. The Lofts is really not the worst choice, actually it would be in my top three choices.
