I have lived here a few years..way too long. I lived on bottom floor of 2 story building. finally moved out because the bad started to outweigh the good.
1. wall & floor insulation very poor. You can hear your upstairs neighbor walking in their apartment, every footstep, especially if they are heavy steppers. You can hear the tv, radio, conversations, fighting of the neighbors. If neighbors slam their front door closed you will be jolted by the noise. you hear people walking up & down the stairs, noise is amplified & irritating.
2. noise of police helicopters late at night, sometimes you hear the loud police announcements from the chopper too. This occurs maybe few times a week. scary!
3. lack of sufficient, available parking on premises. Each apartment is assigned 1 reserved stall. if you have 2 or more cars, you'll have a hard time finding an extra visitor stall to use in the evening. must park out on street. also, some tenants feel "priviledged" to adopt unused extra reserved stalls & management doesnt monitor these lease breakers.
4. towards the end of my stay here there was an increasing amount of uncontrolled noise. People blasting their car stereos at night, loud & late parties, people loitering in the parking area.
5. almost forgot, our car was broken into twice. stole the car stereo, items in trunk, damaged the dash & broke the window to get in. The "gated" entrance does nothing to stop vandals do their evil; all you have to do is wait at the entrance till a tenant drives in or out then follow them thru the gate. I think it gives a false sense of security.
6. You will pay for everyone else water bill. Hated this part, this new rule of paying for water & sewer was added after we lived here for 2 years. Unfair, no individual metering. We were out of town working for 2 months & were still liable to pay for water bill each month even if you didnt use any water. our bill for 2 people/no pets averaged about $24. to $28. month a month- crazy.
7. most units have an open patio but you're not allowed to place anything except plants & patio furniture. nothing beyond that, you will get a notice to remove it.
8. no barbeques allowed
THE GOOD:
1. Great maintenance staff. always try to keep grounds neat. will response quick to maintenance issues.
2. management staff usually very pleasant
3. closet space adequate
4. It is bearable if you have considerate, quiet neighbors with common sense.
5. Maybe the experience would be better if you lived on top floor.
Good luck considering this apartment complex. If you plan on living downstairs please beware! if you don't mind noise & constant footsteps go for it.
