Tacky style, priggish management, false advertising

I am not a tenant here, but have family living here for the past 3 1/2 years. I have visited frequently and at several points have considered getting an apartment myself here, BUT
This place advertises 2 pools and a spa/hottub, not to mention a gym. For the past 3 1/2 years that I've been visiting my family here, the hottub has been a mosquito breeding pool, not usable by humans. One of the pools has been unceremoniously closed. There's a padlock on the gate and a large "CLOSED" sign on it. No explanation. When it was open, pool maintenance was done once a season. Lots of dirt and rust on the bottom with dead leaves and bugs on top. Equipment in the gym is in bad repair and there is an additional charge to use it.
The apartments are small and badly laid out.
Management puts out a monthly "newsletter" which contains intrusive admonishments to the residents. For example, during the Christmas season, they tell you when to put up decorations and then in January give you a deadline by which decorations must be down. The "patios," postage-stamp sized spaces, are not to be used for storage of any kind, even bikes (!!'') Of course, there is no room inside for a bike.
Then there are the porch lights. The covers for these lights are installed by management. They are globes and are never installed correctly, so they fall off and then there is broken glass and a snotty attitude on management's part. Most of the time, there is simply a bare bulb on many apartments.
Unpleasant, pretentious, self seeking management.
Oh and on Fourth of July, forget about fireworks. None are allowed...even across the street on the riverbank, according to management.
If your cat gets out, beware. Management has set out traps in the past. Don't know the current policy.

I think this is a little bit of an exaggeration. Yeah, the pool got pretty nasty in the winter time, but they cemented over the mosquito breeding hottub and cleaned up the pool in time for summer. Amen to the intrusive admonishments in the newsletter, though. I tend to ignore them, but I could see how someone could perceive that management would really rather that everyone just leave. On the other hand, you might say that it just shows that the management really cares about everyone in the complex and wants to make sure that there's nothing...naughty going on.

I was in Property Management for a number of years when I was a young man and generally the people that have problems with Management are the residents that find it difficult to follow community rules. Usually properties with rules that are enforced are the properties that are not run down and people feel comfortable and safe living at.

I dont think this reviewer has spent time at the property - the pools are maintained several times a week and checked daily Management is strict but that keeps the place clean and quiet If you like wild parties this is not the place for you since many staff live on site and know what is going on
