Terrible management

1st let me say that the apartments themselves are great. They are clean and well planned. The complex as a whole is quiet for the most part but does have some very loud cars driving through blasting their music in the evening. My biggest gripe is with the management. They make up rules as they go along and try to get tenants to believe that this was the procedure all along. They spell out these rules in their monthly newsletter, which is usually very late and people get the information as if they had these rules all along. I just recently moved out at the end of July and gave 1 month's notice on the 1st of the July. I was completely out of the apartment by the 30th (note 31 days in July) and I was charged one day's rent for August! I called and asked them about their "30 days notice policy" and was informed that it is not 30 calender days, its whenever you cancel you will be charged up to that same day the next month. Complete B.S. No other apartment I've lived in has been this way and what I've described here is just the tip of the iceberg. Oh and don't bother keeping your carpet clean, you will have $90 deducted from your deposit when you leave no matter how long you have lived there and no matter how clean it is. We kept our carpet immaculate and lived there for 3 years and were still charged for cleaning! If you don't mind having controlling management and living by ridiculous rules (i.e. no charcoal grills on the deck, only gas burning grills allowed--WTF!') then maybe give this place a shot. Otherwise I would recommend to look elsewhere.

I'm sorry you feel this way about our community and management. I am the Manager(Lynn), and as far as the rules go, we do not make up any rules, they are all stated in the lease you sign. We can only enforce the rules that are in the lease, we do not make up any. The newsletters get out by the end of each month or by the first week of the new month at the latest. To address your 30 day notice issue, you can put in a 30 day and be out by the day noted, however until we get keys, we cannot take possession because keys have not been turned in. Many people have needed more time to clean, have had issues come up where they needed a few more days in the unit, so until we get keys, the unit is still yours. With regards to move out charges, if the carpet is not professionally cleaned, you will be charged for carpet cleaning. Let me say that by no means am I a controlling manager. I understand that this is where you have chosen to live and I am so happy to have you as a resident. I don't like to tell people how to live. I only enforce the lease rules which will be in place at any apartment community you choose to live in. Once again, I am sorry for the way you feel.
