We are in the process of moving out of our Shorepark Apartment (Pocket Road - May 2007). We have lived here for a number of years an finally couldn't take it anymore. And this doesnt have anything to do with raising the rent $200 if we don't sign another lease.
The complex has been in a constant slide for the past few years. There is a bad element that has moved in and taken over. Loud cars with loud music at all times of the night. Arguments break out in the parking lot. Trash on the covered parking, people dumping beds and other furniture by the dumpsters that sits there for days. My wife's car was broken into a while back and when we asked Management about the cameras located in the parking lot, we were told they do not function. I have actually become worried about my wife's safety when I am not home.
The apartments are also poorly maintained. There is a mold problem which seems to be unavoidable. I am tired of fighting the dust from this apartment. I have had so many leaks (roof, water heater, kitchen sink, bathroom) it's almost funny. My upstairs bathtub leaked and I was without the use of my shower for a day. The Management offered NO help. We had to shower at the gym. They don't maintain anything and its sad.
Parking is OK. We have two cars and I have to park at unassigned spaces which is tough to find on weekends or after 6 PM. However, the spaces are small and I have been hit twice in 4 years.
Lastly, if you look for picture of the apartments, they show white kitchen cabinets. I have never seen one apt with those cabinets.
The only thing I like about Shorepark is the location. Its close to the river, but be very aware, shifty people walk those levies at night.
