Our very first apartment, had no idea what we were getting into.
Remember it as a burning tower to escape from. Ghetto neighbors, picked a fist-fight with spouse over parking stalls. My muddy shoes were STOLEN from the doorstep. Break-in next door. Broke into neighbor's car. Drug-dealer eviction next to that. Senior resident murdered in apartment for $30.
Best thing: sticky vaseline-like goo was applied by mangement onto "secutiry fence" to prevent scaling. Kids got stuck like rats on glue trap. Provided daily laughs. Get a PO BOX, one key opens all mailboxes in complex, you will not receive any checks that are mailed to you, and forget about birthday cards--they will be searched for cash. Parents lock their children out from dawn to dusk and once observed one deperate child DEFECATING in the bushes by the dumpster. Take note, tennis court is now a tot-lot (whatever that is).
