My earlier comment was deleted, as were other unfavorable comments. These are merely the actions of office managment and their attempts to hide their lack of abilities and luer other unsuspecting renters in.
Overall, it looks like a nice community at first sight. But, the longer you live here the more you get to know exactly how much goes wrong. First. Parking sucks. Yes, this is common in many apartments. But, this apartment complex has an problem that exceeds most places. Upon moving in, we were informed by the office staff that more uncovered spots would be added. You need a permit to park in the covered spots. But, these spots were never ever added. Just one of the many lies we were told. Cars are parked in the same spots for weeks on end, even though the cars have a flat tire and expired registration. Once, there was even a POD container taking up TWO of the uncovered spots for two weeks. Our friends dont like to visit anymore because they have to hunt for parking or worry about being towed. And, you are only given ONE parking permit per apartment no matter how many rooms you have. Once, even all the covered spots in the apartment were taken and we had to park across the street by the waffle place. Yes, we looked, the majority of the cars didnt have parking permits.
The grounds are very nice. But, the grass is over watered. You have to be careful to stay on the sidewalk or you might step in a giant puddle of mud. You can literally hear the squishing sound. In the summer months, the grass is full of mushrooms. The office makes no attempts to rectify this problem. Even though they could be held liable if a child ate some of the mushrooms and became ill. The apartment has a legal duty to protect its tenents and visitors. It is supposed to activly search out anything that could potentially harm an individual.
There are ants like crazy. You can kill them with bug spray, but they just keep comming back. They come through window cracks and ceiling vents. There are spiders. There are also mice. A neighbor of mine had a small family of mice living within her wall about 8 months ago. Yes, we do live in the outskirts of sacramento and much of the surrounding area isn't developed yet. But, the apartment managment should be taking the proper steps (pesticides) to at least minimize these pests. Oh, and watch out when you walk to your apartment for those pesty nats that swarm about your face.
There is drug activity. I found a meth pipe in the grass. Then, there were a bunch of those extra small ziplock bags scattered all over the parking lot. And, some apartments seem to have a lot of in and out traffic. But, the apartment does background checks so i dont know how these people slip through.
There are recent rumors of prostitution in some of the apartments.
The gate is ALWAYS broken. Frequently, you will see the gate tied to a fence to hold it open. This is because it often opens half way and then closes on cars as they attempt to pass though. But, the sign on the fence lets you know that the managment is not responsible for any damages done to cars. So much for the safety of a gated community.
Theft is rampant. Cars have been broken into. Bikes have been stolen off porches an patios. Gas has been syphoned out of cars. And, all of this occurs while a security company is supposedly "securing" our community.
The 24hr gym. Yhea its 24hr if you have one of the pass cards. Which, we didnt get when we moved in. And, when i went to the office and asked they accused me of lying.
The office staff is full of ditzy model types. They know absolutely nothing about how the complex works. If you ask two people the same question you will get two different answeres. And, their record keeping skills are horrendous. They dont even know what garage is used by what apartment.
New office managment has taken over. But, it appears little progress has been made. Many of the outside lights continue not to work. The mail boxes were broken into. And, residents were told they cant use garages for storage. Legally, if you are renting the garage, you can use it for anything you want as long as you aren't living in it or running a business out of it.
It is going to take a major overhaul to make this place better.
On the upside, it is a fairly friendly quiet community. If a neighbor is having company over, just close your windows and you shouldnt be able to hear any of the noise. And, parking should never be a problem if you get off work at 3pm or work the night shift. But, then the gardners will probobly wake you up one a week with the lawnmowers and hedge trimmers. The majority of the neighbors are extrememly friendly and really try to make this place a community despite all of its problems.
Oh. and the maintinence staff is amazing. The residents were fortunate enough to have two of the old crew kept on. The only problem arises when the office doesnt tell them you need something fixed.
The apartments are great if you have pets. The office does a great job making you feel welcome. Most of the pets are really well behaved and friendly. I just wish more owners were responsible and picked up after their pets.
I truly hope the new managment can resolve some of the issues. But, as yet, the outlook is bleak.
