I have been living in Tuscaro Apts for four years. Three of these I have been on month to month, as I felt more comfortable with this then have to deal with their horrible staff.
Where do I begin'
1. Tuscaro Apts killed off every single pigeon in 2007, using powerful poison packets they affixed to the roofs of the complex. The pigeons would literally have siezures on my deck, each one facing a voilent end. They posted notices to not discuss this with people outside of the complex.
2. Tuscaro promises rewards for finding tenants, and I have moved a few folks into the complex, thinking I was going to receive $$$ off the rent, or even one time, a 42" plasma screen TV. Come to find out, this was all a rouse. There was no $$$ and certainly no TV (management received the TV for doing a stellar job on the promotion).
3. Tuscaro will make you carry a $250,000 insurance renter's policy, claiming that they are forced to do this by the state of California. Guess what, no such law. Hugo, the manager, has family that runs an insurance company downtown, and will only accept policies from this vendor. I have USAA, to which, he rejected and said this was not a real insurance company.
4. Tuscaro claims that they now need to see the pet, have it's papers, and have a discussion with the vet before accepting the pet. Again, illegal.
5. Tuscaro limited parking in the facility to just one spot per apartment, and have towed cars who have legitimately parked into these spots, claiming anything from it was parked illegally or "we simply did not like the color of the vehicle, sorry!". They will also allow any tenant to park int he fire lane, with no penalty. Interesting...
6. Tuscaro has refused to repair any of the items in my apartment, claiming that if I was to sign a 5 year lease, things would be better for me.
7. Tuscaro does go though my mail, and steals any checks that were mailed to me as an independant contractor. I have a federal case pending investigation on this issue, and they know!
8. Tuscaro allows section eight folks to live right next to paying tenants. They still claim that this is not the case, but my neighbors tell me otherwise.
No, don't move to their parent complex, Granite Pointe either, it is the same crap.

I live at Tuscaro, and though I'm no big endorser of the complex, I call bullcrap on about 90% of this posting. You really think the apartment complex went through your mail and stole your checks? And you have a federal case pending on this issue? You sound like a nutjob to me.

I have had a different experience than this person...so we can't generalize too much about Tuscaro based on these issues. I have plenty of qualms with the management, but I don't have to have a 250,000 insurance policy and I got to choose my own renter's insurance. Also, the parking is unbelievable, but I've never seen them tow someone's car, and people cannot park in the red zones...you get tickets. Even if there is NO parking in the entire complex and you HAVE to park there, you get a $35 ticket most times. Lastly, Tuscaro does not deal with our mail. The Post Office does. This means if someone is stealing this tenant's mail, it's the Mail Carrier from the USPS...I highly doubt that is happening.

I would agree that most of what this post say is crap! The only illegal thing that I know Tuscaro has done that I am aware of is charging the tenants for storm water when it???s not a provision of their leasing agreement.
