Don't Always Believe What You Read

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
I have lived here for the past two years and have had some problems, but mostly this Apartment complex is nice. I don't have any problems with leaking faucets or electrical appliances, I don't have black mold, I do have a problem with slow draining sinks, but I think that it is mostly to do with hair in the drain, the maintenance guy is nice and really prompt at fixing most things.
The biggest problem I had was earlier this year someone dug up the wiring that gave the left side of the complex electricity and cut the lines (summed up by the maintenance guy as vandalization) and so the power was out for most of the day, but by the time I got home from work, everything had been fixed except some small things that in my apartment. It happened again the next day to the other side of the apartment complex.
They have beefed up the police presence down here so there are far fewer car break-ins, I haven't heard of anyones windows being smashed in a couple months and the only reason I heard about that is the owner of the car was my roommates boyfriend, before that I had never heard of anyones windows being smashed. In the entire time I have been hear one car has been stolen. One thing that really got me was the number of times my boyfriends stereo was stolen (three) and how ingenious the thieves got (they stole one stereo without the face plate!!). Yes it is true that they need more lights in the parking lots, but since the Apartment complex is so close to the levy (meaning if your apartment looks toward it and you are above the first floor you have an amazing view of the river) and the University you are just going to have to deal with extra people during the school year.
The noise can be a problem, but mostly it is just on the weekends, I have rarely had a problem on the week nights. Sometimes because of the number of Indian people who live here (I have no problem with Indian people) the hallways can smell of curry and other exotic scents, but I have never had a problem with it in my apartment, and if you have a problem with the smells of a hallway, maybe you are spending too much time in them. I have never seen more than 3 people coming from any one apartment at a time.
The bedrooms and bathroom areas are huge. I have a dressing area in the closet. The kitchen could be bigger but it suits my needs. The living area as well could be bigger, but it also serves its purpose. There are never huge parties here, I don't really see how that would be possible with the size of the common areas and who wants even their friends in their bedrooms. We were told that technically pets weren't allowed, but the manager had a dog and told us that it was basically don't ask don't tell.
