If you're thinking of moving to the Sac State area, bypass these sorry apartments. There are MUCH better ones to be found.
First, the condition of the apartment itself. The storage space and layout are nice, but all the walls and doorframes are crooked. Our apartment was infested with termites and ants (we were on the second floor and couldn't get rid of the ants!). The ventilation was a major problem, too, so the window sills and bathroom ceilings were constantly growing mold.
For what you get, the apartments are somewhat overpriced. Our rent went up 30% when our first lease was up, and the prices keep going up. Part of it is due to the poor rental market in Sacramento, but the managers could temper it slightly if they wanted to. Instead they seem to be milking it for all it's worth.
The staff is generally friendly, but the new manager (as of early 2003) is not anxious to help the residents and gets perturbed when presented with issues that need resolution.
The apartments are also unfortunately located in a seriously precarious part of town. Homeless persons, people driving by, and residents are always scrounging through the dumpsters. The week before we moved in, a gang shootout occurred across the street, and another gun fight broke out right outside our window very recently. That was what finally convinced us to move out as soon as we could.
Save yourself the trouble of moving twice and find a better place to reside than here.
