Security here is bad. The complex is large so only one security guard at the front gate & working every so often is not enough. There have been numerous car break-ins/vadalized cars lately. I haven't had my car broken into (knock on wood) but don't feel safe leaving my car here overnight. I actually take my car to a friend's if I'm going to be gone for the weekend. I don't know how many times I've seen police taking reports in the complex. To make matters worse, we have not been notified of any changes that will make us safer so it feels like nothing is being done. More lights haven't been installed, the exit gate still gets stuck open at least 2-3 times a week, mgt hasn't hired more security or a different security company, warning notices haven't been sent out to residents... My main concern is if nothing is done who's to say the next time these criminals, who have found a haven here don't attack a tenant or rob an apartment.
Mgt needs to issue warnings, other than "don't leave anything valuable in your car", which is what I was told when I asked about a neighbor's car being broken into. It's common sense not to leave valuables in a vehicle & these criminals aren't going only for what's in the vehicle, they're going for the whole vehicle. Mgt should facilitate an apt watch program so we can get to know other tenants & who belongs to what car/apartment since security is lacking.
I am so unhappy with the crime here that the helpful maintenance crew or friendly office staff just aren't enough to make me ever consider renewing my lease. We'll be moving once our lease is up.
Until the crime drops and permanent changes (lights, 24 hr security/more security guards,etc..) are made, I wouldn't recommend this complex to anyone. Call the local police depart to check crime in any area before sign a lease. We didn't & boy do we regret it.
