I lived at Crystal Springs for about a year back in '05-'06. At first it seemed great - the apartment was freaking HUGE, and pretty well laid out. The view was nice (overlooked the park across the road), and since I didn't live on the freeway side, there was no real noise issue. But, to the last reviewer, let me just say that I was offered an apartment on the 280 side of the complex, and it IS a bit difficult to tell how overpowering the freeway noise is gonna be in the actual apartment until you live there.

However...

The people in the managment office quickly turned what seemed to be a fairly nice apartment-living experience into a complete nightmare. There was a blonde girl named Br----a who was probably one of the most bitchy and argumentative people I've ever met (and about stupid stuff! Like, "Hey, there's somebody parked in my space, can you make them move'") On top of that, she was unreliable. She said she would do something for me and it never got done. Now, she was pregnant at the time I lived there, and I realize that adds complications to ANYONE'S work day, but at least have the common decency to have someone else do the work, or at least let me know what's going on. And then don't get all confrontational and LIE and say the conversation never took place.

As for the head manager, M-----l H----r... wow. There's not enough bad words in the English language that I'd feel comfortable using to describe this guy. Not only the worst apartment manager I've ever met, but possibly the worst human being too. He was very condescending, arrogant, insulting, and just plain mean.

There was an Asian lady there who I only spoke to a handful of times. She seemed nice enough, but she was very scatterbrained and didn't seem like she remembered what was going on from one minute to the next.

The sole exception was the younger guy that worked there. I think his name was L--e. Out of all the management staff he was the only one who seemed to really give a damn and do what he said he was gonna do. Props to you, man, and I hope you get a better job!

As far as the rest of it - the rodent and bat problems, the drug problems, the sketchy neighbors, and the crappy parking - its all true, to a greater or lesser degree depending on where you live in the complex. Over on my side it wasn't too bad, and if it wasn't for the management staff, I'd probably still be living there. But I have a co-worker who lived in building 20, over on the 280-freeway side, and it was like night and day. There was a guy who lived below him who had the cops raid his apartment. There was constant partying from the next building. There were BATS in his apartment. There was drug-dealing going on RIGHT IN THE DAMN PARKING LOT.

So all in all, Crystal Springs is kinda like Russian Roulette - you'll get lucky a lot of the time, but when you lose, you REALLY lose.

this is very accurate for one of the maintance employees there Lawer*ance who lives in building 18 is dealing out his apartment. this information has been turned over to the police as of 8-20-07. the manager was given the information about the employee there and has continued to ignore that one of the own is dealing using and dealing drugs on the property.

I currently live here, well until the end of the month at least. And I must saw that this review is lenient on the property. I have been here for a little over 2 years, and at first it was great, I had respectful neighbors and the office seemed like they had a handle on things. Then I had to deal with Michael Hector (I don't mind using names!), and man was he a piece of work!!! They have since gotten rid of him thankfully, but things haven't improved. All my good neighbors moved out due to 1) the management staff, 2) noisy rude neighbors and 3) ITS TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE!!! Now I have ------- neighbors surrounding me. Ignorant people next door you can hear all night and decide they want to park in your ASSIGNED spot and its your problem, the couple on the other side that have parties Thurs. night through Sunday night, and people who seem to be practicing SUMO WRESTLING on my head!!! In this large complex we have to pay water and garbage ($75 a month), we are REQUIRED to have Renter's Ins., and PG&E has the highest rates at the complex (I pay about $120 monthly, if I conserve!!!). Unless you have $10,000 of disposable income I do NOT recommend living here, its awful, truly!!!
