Not the best place in the world, not the worst

We lived on the first floor near the south end of the building, over the garage. The noisy garage door opening and closing as residents came and went was *very* disturbing, especially at night. The floorplans defied logic: the neighbor's living room abutted our bedroom. So when we were trying to sleep, we could hear the television or phone conversations next door. We actually slept in our living room, seeking quiet, some nights.
Building construction was lousy, with the aforementioned thin walls (we could hear noise from the third floor apartment, two stories above). Our balcony slanted upward rather than down so that rain puddled against the wall and seeped inside. I remember a rainstorm in the middle of the night where I had to get up and mop the balcony to prevent more water damage inside.
Once I walked past the alcove where the dumpster was kept and this scary, crack-fried homeless dude was in there. Par for the course in that area.
The couple managing the place was very nice, although probably overwhelmed at times.
We stayed maybe a year and then moved to Montecito Point on 3rd Avenue. It's been so long ago now that I can't remember our rent. Probably in the $600 neighborhood. gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7
