We had a three-month lease. Yep, only there 3 months. Upon moving out, they kept our security and sent us a bill, with a form letter that they were going to have to do a full-clean, a steaming of the carpet, and a full paint. What''' After 3 months'
About us: We are neat freaks. The place was left IMMACULATE and they are telling us that, after three months, they are going to have to do a full paint' We had no pets, we are not smokers, we hung no pictures. And to get the letter from them, as if we were a couple of fratenity kids who wrecked the place, and told they'd keep the security and we'd have to pay more before they'd turn us over to a credit agency'
Thieves. Straight-up thieves. Do not move here ever. This happens to EVERYBODY who leaves Archstone -- no security back and they attempt to get more.
Furthermore, the pool was always crowded and full of loud kids. People smoked WHILE INSIDE the jacuzzi. I just hoped they didn't flick their ashes in the actual water. There is no attempt by the staff to curb this behavior. We had to call the cops once because of loud music.
The grounds are super-nice, but scratch the surface, look behind the curtain. Don't support this corporation.

I lived there too and I agree that they are crooks, but honestly, the security deposit is only $400 (which is only about 1/4 the rent price) whereas most places charge a full months rent for the deposit. That's no excuse but it's a reason why they try to keep the whole thing. They sort of expect to get something out of you moving. Wrong, but every apartment complex does it.
